a friend of mine is looking for somewhere to host a board? Does anyone know of anywhere that'd work reasonably well?

You'll probably have to pay for it.

Be aware that unless you have a successful niche site as a front end the forums are likely to fail spectacularly.

I'm in the same *situation - looking to switch hosts though...preferrably someone in the Calgary area. Who is calgarypuck hosted by?

from the google ad I see here sometimes:

lypha.com, 3gb space, 150gb xfer $4.95/mo

Hehe.. anyway http://www.webhostingtalk.com is a great forum for finding out about hosts, and they have an area where hosts post offers.

EDIT: no real reason to go with something from Calgary area, I've never seen anything local with prices anywhere near what you can get elsewhere.

I have space with http://www.affordablehost.com/
Fairly happy with them, and I have a deal that gave me a year free on a 300mb storage plan.

Customer service is top-notch (online chat) and downtime is nil.

Anyone know anything about DreamHost.com? Looks good and reviews SEEM to be good... ?


My research has turned up TONS of bad stuff on Lypha.
