Who else is originally from back east?
I was born and raised in Cape Breton, spent the last 3.5 years in NB, and moved out to Calgary in August 2004.

Originally from Nova Scotia myself. Lived there pretty much my entire life up until May of last year when I decided to move to Calgary. Very happy with that decision right now.

I took a few into business courses in my first year... (would have been 00-01) hmmmm, kind of a p*ss off when you are from a place like this and can't place the other person, haha.

I think one of my biggest reasons for leaving Saint John (well, Quispamsis, but close enough...) was the lack of a sushi restaurant (or any kind of foreign cuisine, for that matter).
I've never seen a town more devoid of culture than SJ. God I'm glad to be out of that cesspool.

Heh...I wonder how long it will last. I hear the Indian place that opened a few months ago in Market Square is pretty sparse these days. SJ is very much a fad town.
It's funny the little things I notice each time I return to Saint John. I've been back three times (Christmas holidays in 2002, 2003, and 2004), and I'm always shocked about something I've come to take for granted in Calgary.
The first year I went home, it occurred to me that everyone was white. You have to go out of your way to find an Asian, black, Indian, or Middle-Eastern person in SJ, whereas in Calgary they're everywhere.
The second year I was home I noticed a distinct lack of attractive young females. I really feel sorry for you guys.
Finally, after being away for a few years, I no longer know how to navigate downtown. My what a mess driving in downtown SJ is if you're not familiar with the streets!
I do miss the City Market though.
