So basically a movie about guitarists who are being artsy and acting like the greatest inventors of new music, when really they have no time in everyday life to go out and mess with 100 guitars to find just the right one for a song - they'd rather get ripped and get laid. Not to rip on you, but I'll pass on the self-righteous biography.

Three of the most influential rock guitarists in history (rightly or wrongly) have nothing of interest to say to you. That's quite the judgment passed based on a 2:25 clip. To each his own, I suppose. Personally, I'm looking forward to it.

A poster above me needs to get ripped and/or laid.
Guess which one.

Dunno if I'd call Mr. White of the the most influential guitarists in rock in his time never mind HISTORY, but he does seem like a good mix for this doc.
I'll probably give this a look see. Man does Page look old!

I wouldnt call White one of the most influential guitarists. Nor would I call The Edge that. Anyone who puts a The in front of there name i dont have time for. But I will give this movie my 12 bucks just to listen to Jimmy Page. Excited! Although I do think Jack White would have some interesting things too say as well. The Edge just bugs me for 2 reasons..1) His name......2) He's really not that good. You saw the clip, he's all effects.

Jimmy Hendrix, Slash, Eric Clapton. I guess we'll agree to disagree, but really guys? A biography about making music? Isn't this a made for TV special type of thing?

Too bad it's just a bunch of white anglo-saxon guitarists who loosely play in the same rock (a bit of folk for Jack) genre.
Where's the variety? Get someone like Prince in there and you'll see something.

Wow. Some of you guys must be really awesome guitar players. Can I find some of your albums somewhere? HMV, iTunes, Amazon? What about some fan rips on YouTube?
Love to hear some of you guys' stuff sometime.

That looks great! But then, I'd watch Jimmy Page play a broken ukelele with one string for two hours, so what do I know?
Thanks for posting this FI80.

Admittedly, "influential" may have been a poor choice of adjective on my part as the tag only really applies to Page. At any rate, I'll be checking this flick out when it's released.

Not sure why, but I find this comment kind of stupid.

Synopsis
Who hasn’t wanted to be a rock star, join a band or play electric guitar? Music resonates, moves and inspires us. Strummed through the fingers of The Edge, Jimmy Page and Jack White, somehow it does more. Such is the premise of It Might Get Loud, a new documentary conceived by producer Thomas Tull.
It Might Get Loud isn’t like any other rock’n roll documentary. Filmed through the eyes of three virtuosos from three different generations, audiences get up close and personal, discovering how a furniture upholsterer from Detroit, a studio musician and painter from London and a seventeen–year–old Dublin schoolboy, each used the electric guitar to develop their unique sound and rise to the pantheon of superstar. Rare discussions are provoked as we travel with Jimmy Page, The Edge and Jack White to influential locations of their pasts. Born from the experience is intimate access to the creative genesis of each legend, such as Link Wray’s “Rumble’s” searing impression upon Jimmy Page, who surprises audiences with an impromptu air guitar performance. But that’s only the beginning.
While each guitarist describes his own musical rebellion, a rock’n roll summit is being arranged. Set on an empty soundstage, the musicians come together, crank up the amps and play. They also share their influences, swap stories, and teach each other songs. During the summit Page’s double–neck guitar, The Edge’s array of effects pedals and White’s new mic, custom built into his guitar, go live. The musical journey is joined by visual grandeur too. We see the stone halls of Headley Grange where “Stairway to Heaven” was composed, visit a haunting Tennessee farmhouse where Jack White writes a song on–camera, and eavesdrop inside the dimly lit Dublin studio where The Edge lays down initial guitar tracks for U2’s forthcoming single. The images, like the stories, will linger in the mind long after the reverb fades.
It Might Get Loud might not affect how you play guitar, but it will change how you listen. The film is directed and produced by An Inconvenient Truth’s Davis Guggenheim, and produced by Thomas Tull, Lesley Chilcott and Peter Afterman.

Was going to comment something similar on The Edge as well but I know a ton of people love U2 and they definitely have the sales to back it up. Whatever you take out of 'sales'.
I actually really like Jack's style and some of his ideas on just simplifying music again, but it's definitely premature to mention him as hugely influential or anything along those lines, though the poster that said that already admitted that.
I as well would see this just for Page. Though like I mentioned originally Jack looks like he's a lot of fun in it, whatever you think of his music.
There's always going to be debate on who's at the top, or who is the biggest or 'best'. Whether you agree or not on just how big any of these three are, they are very good, and do have interesting ideas about music and rock. It still looks like it's going to be a fun and interesting movie.
I'm not a big 'opening day' guy though. I usually stick to cheap theaters and rentals. But I'll definitely do one of those for this one.

I actually dont mind U2's music.....I just think The Edge gets more praise than he deserves in the guitar world.

And since when does being a commerical success equate to good muscianship or knowledge and appreciation of a wild variety of music styles? Since when does one need to be "awesome" at a talent before they can comment on the merits of a TV show?
I've know these guy's (well, not Jack White so much) music up and down (okay, don't challenge me to play anywhere close to it - unless it's the first few bars to Stairway to Heaven or just hitting the delay pedal to do some The Edge schticks)...I'm quite tired of most mainstream guitar and mainstream guitar heroes.
There are so many more varieties of guitar and so many lesser light or not commonly thought of muscians/virtuosos that could have made this so much more interesting. But hey, it's TV, let's just get 3 big names to jam together and see what happens for ratings.
