Medals DO matter say Canadian Olympians

A day after a federal sport minister, only two hours on the job, said medals don't matter at the Olympics, that the spirit of competition is the most important thing, Canadian Olympic officials, led by Calgary's Ken Read, express their outrage.

Well gee what a surprise, the athletes do care about medal count.
WHO KNEW we had a sports minister?! I would be shocked if this guy even knows anything about sport. To say that medal count doesn't judge our success at the Olympics is garbage. And to furthur say that as long as we get healthier as a country then it is all better!! So what I'm gonna see us get no medals and decide to go for a nice long run?!
Glad to see at least some people care about our medal count this year. Hopefully our under-funded athletes pull out a good showing this year.

When I was 5 years old I figured out that was a bunch of crap. Sure, its nice to participate in sports, I have all my life, but losing sucks rocks and winning is the best feeling in the world. Plain and simple. Medals don't matter...what a load of manure.
