Dallas Stars News Update
Well here we are 29 games in and still going pretty strong. Currently 16-9-4 for 5th in the West. The last two games we've managed to shake out of an offensive slump and put up 4 goals on Ottawa and Colorado.
First news item is that Michael Leighton was put on waivers today. He's not seeing any playing time with Niittymaki and Legace playing well. I know a couple of teams will be interested in a waiver claim. I sent an Eastern team a trade offer earlier this week but they declined. I figure I'll be better off opening up cap room rather than not getting much back and giving the other team salary money.
Second news item is that we have signed Jonathan Johansson. He went undrafted last season and has made a big leap this season. He was ranked 7th among Swedes in Central Scouting's preliminaries. Currently has 15-12-27 in 19 games for Frolunda in the J20. He was Sweden's best player in the recent Junior A challenge, scoring 3 goals for a weak Swedish team.
Third, I've updated the trade block, added a few more names. Couple of defensive forwards, and a 2nd/3rd pair defensive defenseman. Despite our record, I would still call the Stars a rebuilding team.
