Default Top CPHL Contracts

List is based on trade value moving forward and not on how they are performing in the CPHL. The contracts looked at should be beyond this year. This can be just a list of entry level contracts but I'll try to mix it up. Here we go.

Steve Mason - 3 years @ 500K - Its one thing to have a good goalie but another thing to have a dirt cheap good goalie for next 2 year. Steve needs to build around Mason and get the Devils into the playoffs.

Tobias Enstrom - 3 years @ 4.0M - One of the under-rated young defenseman, the Sabres have Tobias locked up at a very reasonable rate for next 3 years. Already a 66 overall rated, likely going up after this season.

Anze Kopitar - 3 years @ 6.5M - Enjoying his breakout season, will be a real nice contract to carry forward. Kopitar at 6.5 for 3 years for a player likely in mid 70s will be the key moving forward for the Habs.

Henrik Lundqvist - 2 years @ 6.25 - Only for 2 years but a contract worth every penny. Second best rated goalie who cost is much less than compared to other top flight tenders.

Jonathon Toews - 2 years @ 1.35 - With Toews and Kopitar, the Habs have a bright future down the middle and cost-efficient for next couple of years as well.

Nicklas Backstrom - 2 years @ 1.35M - An entry-level contract with only 1 year left after this year but if you can get player of Backstrom's calibre at 1.35 for 2 years you have yourself a cheap player with one of the better ratings.

Rich Peverly - 3 years @ 2.1M - Came off the waiver wire to provide Ilya some support in Atlanta and now has become a story. Moving forward this contract will be very affordable for the Laughs.

Bobby Ryan - 3 years @ 2.5M - Coming off his ELC Ryan still had lots to prove but he showing why he was picked so high. At 2.5 mill hes gonna become a lot more valuable.

Pat Kane - 3 years @ ELC - When he does get signed and become a Jacket he will be one the better rated players in the league costing zilch.

Shea Weber - 2 years @ 4.5M - Another short contract but a valuable player. One of the better young defenseman out there at a very economical price.

Ray Emery - 3 years @ 2.1M - Has come back and has looked impressive. Coyotes paid a decent price to acquire Emery but not have him locked up at a very reasonable price. Coyotes future in net is very healthy.

David Perron - 3 years @ 2.5M - The young tenacious forward is ever improving and going forward having him at 2.5 mill per year will prove worthy for Patricia.

Ryan Getzlaf - 2 years @ 5.5M - Already a top player in the NHL and leading the CPHL Sharks, Getzlaf at 5.5 mill is only for another year after this but still a luxury to have.

Kris Versteeg - 3 years @ 3.25M - One of those feisty forwards signed a reasonable contract but is a good bet to get better so will be worth the money.

Thats all, might've missed couple but these are the major ones imo.

Steve Mason's contract is #1, followed by Lundqvist.

Contracts are key in the CPHL right now...they allow so much more flexibility if you have a high rated player at a low contract. David Booth's contract this year is quite solid as well, although he's due for quite a raise next year.
