Default Time to Fast and Furious this Street Racer out of Canada

Haha. what a joke. Begs for mercy from the judge not to deport him out of Canada. Lets see you drive 200km/h on the streets of Mumbai.

The trucker who died was a hero who swerved into a ditch to avoid oncoming cars.

"Please, I am asking for a lesser sentence so that I can go to school here," said Ravi Badhwar, 23, as he stood in the prisoner's box in handcuffs.

The jury heard how Badhwar and two of his friends zigzagged through heavy traffic at speeds reaching 200 km/h, as they laughed and gestured toward each other in a deadly game

To the end, Badhwar insisted he was innocent, and only sped to try to keep up with his two friends, but the Crown -- and the jury -- disagreed.

I must be the one person on earth who is impervious to peer pressure. When I talk to my husband about something stupid that he did, his excuse is always "Well, everyone else did it...." and I"m always saying "So what?" I am proud to say that I have never, in my entire life, done something just because "everyone else did it".

So to Ravi, I say, WHY did you "have" to keep up with your friends? Was there a prize? Were they going to kill your family? What is the worst thing that could have happened if you slowed down?

I also snort in disgust at his comment "I am a law-abiding citizen who would never intentionally hurt someone". Dude, you were going 200 km/hr...which is against the law. You left the scene of an accident....which is also against the law.

I say deport him. He didn't have enough respect for Canada and it's laws, because he was screwing around with this friends, and his actions ended up killing someone. Why should he get to stay here, and enjoy the benefits of living in Canada?

But, I do seem to have my crankypants on this morning, so take it for what it's worth.

I'd say 50% of the population are also impervious to peer pressure when it comes to dares. Peer pressure from Twilight or Sex and the city though . . . ..

Don't let the Canadian Flag hit your a$$ on the way out scumbag.

I've seen a lot of people getting kicked out of the country lately for commiting crime, good to see.

Probably because there is a difference between going 60 in a 50 zone, or 120 on the deerfoot instead of 100, and going 200 km/hr, weaving in and out of traffic.

Cuz 200 clicks aint shiz.

It would be one thing if this guy was caught speeding, but he caused a pileup which killed innocent people, and all he's worried about is using our educational systems for his benefit.

GTFO.

I think they meant that, in Canada, Post-Secondary education is subsidized by the government. Going to university here is significantly cheaper than going to school in some other countries. Also (and I was in Uni a while ago, so things may have changed), International students qualified for grants and bursaries that were not open to me as a Canadian citizen, and they got help with housing and living expenses.

Scumbag. Hit the bricks.

I wonder if he'll be able to hold up deportation proceedings like that Calgary gangster has. If you're in Canada as an immigrant and have not gained citizenship and you commit a crime greater than a parking ticket, you should get the boot without any right to appeal.

The problem with Jackie Tran is that he was given a sentence of two years less a day. Anything over two years and you're automatically deported, so that's why Tran has been bable to stall so long.

If this guy is given a sentence of more than two years, then he won't have all the loopholes that Tran has used....hopefuly.

200? Why so slow? If you are going to race, then race.

He got booted from Canada!

A young college student hung his head in the prisoner's box yesterday after he was handed a stiff penitentiary sentence for his crime of street racing causing death -- which means he will be deported back to India.

Even after the verdict, Badhwar insisted he was not guilty.

"In my heart I know that I am innocent," he told the judge.

so now i'm curious, does Canada have an agreement with India where he'll serve his prison sentence there? or with the deportation does that mean he's free as soon as he gets off the plane there?

I love that he still says he's "innocent" when he admitted to driving like an a-hole in the first place.
News flash jerk, saying "I only did it cause my friends were doing it" doesn't absolve you of guilt in the slightest. Man up and take responsibility for your actions, you and your idiot buddies caused a man to lose his life. Canada doesn't need nor want folks like you. Buh bye.
