I caught Lyle Lovett on Friday night at MacMahon Stadium. Part of the Blues and Roots Festival going on this weekend.

Lovett's Large Band sure has a 'big' sound. In addition to Lovett, there were 10 other musicians on the stage. He brought out a gospel choir at the end. It was fabulous.

Best part of the show was when he toned it down for Nobody Knows Me. Absolutely gripping.

Glad to hear it was a whopper of a concert. Jazzy, bluesy and country.

We saw him at Carnegie Hall in New York last year and we're flying to San Antonio in a couple of weeks to see him again at the historic Majestic Theater with row four seats.

So . . . we didn't see him in Calgary!! He's kind of an excuse for us to travel to interesting places.

He almost never makes videos but seems to be touring constantly.

The Majestic:

Glad to hear the one last night was so good. We went to see Cake thursday night, (along with Byrne) and it was a fantastic concert. We'll probably be going down today and tomorrow to see Roseanne Cash, Blind Boys of Alabama, Wilson Pickett and John Prine. The Blues and Roots festival did a freakin' amazing job with the line-up. Actually a lot better than the Folk Festival's, in my opinion.
