Anybody know how to get rid of the annoying sidebar Google has put on the left hand side of its homepage?

No, I was quite annoyed as well. They keep trying to fix something that isn't broken. At least now you can undo their last mistake, so when you click on an RSS link, you can choose new or exsisting window.
