Sweeeet, solid timing. Thanks for the link! I've been watching out for some sales, these look really good. What type of screen is it you want to avoid in bright rooms? Plasma? Does it even matter anymore?

And by SoundSurround, you mean Soundsaround.

Even 15 years after working there, this mis-pronunciation makes me shudder. (having worked there at all does the same)

I don't need anything, so I wont attend this sale. But I just now realized that I can finally give up my boycott on Soundsaround because I haven't heard that stupid snoring commercial in a really long time.

Well, I hope nobody is rushing out to make it there after the game. Looks like they are back to trying the "Bait & Switch" routine.

I went in to buy the 32" Sony for $398- the same price as last year for Boxing Day. I get in, and right on the TV they have a "correction" notice- the TV is $498; same price as almost everywhere else in town.

I understand that once an ad is printed in the paper; they cannot retract it. But even now at 8:30pm their website still shows the wrong price. Obviously they are keeping the wrong price in place to try and get people into the store; hoping they will buy something else.

I confronted the manager (Scott) about this, and his only answer to me was "I don't look after the website." No appology, more of a "fata off" type of tone and smug look on his face.

Do not buy anything from Soundsaround if they are going to employ such decpetive business practices!

Are you saying I should go back to boycotting them?

The high pressure sales at Visions looks like amateur hour compared to Soundsaround. Not a fan either.

Soundsaround and Vision are both shady. I'll never purchase anything from them. If your looking for a TV, Future Shop has some good prices this week on Samsung LCD's. 40" 1080P for $799, 46" 1080P for $999 and more. Boxing week should be pretty good.

Haha, I wish I had seen this thread sooner. Soundsaround tried this tactic in the past (with a TV I was looking at as well). Since then, I have never went back. I would encourage everyone on this site to boycott them, as it is obvious they are employing questionable business practices.

Sounds like nothing has changed with that slimy business.

Its honestly a miracle that a store with a business and sales model such as theirs has stood the test of time. Consumers are so much more educated these days and I thought the cheese-ball sales-scum methodology they are so proud of there would have been weeded out.

Sadly not.

Yeah, and actually my last couple of dealings with Visions were not so bad. I bought my 50" there last September; and the sales guy was willing to put it on hold even though it was a "loss leader" kind of deal. I did have one issue where a sales guy at Visions oversold to a friend of mine (I had to go back with him to help him return things and get what he needed) but I can also see that the other people with him were pushing him to make the deal.

But I have to agree- all of this makes dealing with Future Shop/ Best Buy seem a lot better.

I must be the only person in Canada that still rocks a square 32" TV.
