Nirvana- Live at Reading 1992
Well it's almost holiday shopping season. Every year we seem to get another Nirvana product right around XMAS for us die-hard fans...but this release looks freaking awesome. This is perhaps the most historic gig the band ever played. The trailer has me excited. CD/DVD in stores next week.

I'll be getting this for sure, but it does make me sad for the days when collecting bootlegs meant something. The bootleg of this is the pride of my Nirvana collection. Curt Cobain himself was a big collector of rare bootlegs and I would think that he would have been proud to keep this recording as one of the biggest cult bootleg recordings in rock history.
But then again, he killed himself so he forfeits I guess.

I bought the box set a long time ago (it has 4 cds or something in it). It was probably put out by Geffen so it's not like it was hard to come by, but there is still a ton of material on there that most non fans have probably never heard (and wouldn't care about lol). I listen to it quite a bit even thought the quality of most of the recordings are garbage.
If you've never seen the episode of Classic Albums: Nevermind, you should check this out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30IQXxGuXag (imbeding fail). This link is to part one but the whole episode is pretty awesome. The producer of the album is a pretty cool guy with some neat insight into, and a lot of appreciation of, Nevermind.

Except that Nirvana were anti-tapers. Listen carefully to some of your boots, you'll hear them pointing out and calling out tapers in the crowd. You can even hear an example of this on Muddy Banks, I believe, which is quite ironic considering it is a commercial bootleg of sorts.
I dunno, maybe they had an official stance and a personal stance - it's been a while since I really cared either way (will be getting this release though)

COOL! That will be awesome. Did you ever go to the Seattle Music Experience Museum? I wish they had more stuff on Nirvana there, but it was a great place to visit nonetheless. I recommend it for any music fan.

I think it peeved them that people with no interest in the music went to tape the shows so they could sell the tapes.... which i can understand.
Now I just have get a way for my wife to find out about this so she will get it for me for Christmas.

I used to buy every Nirvana bootleg I could get my hands on. Anyone remember that place on Stephen Ave. "The Attic"? Those CD's were like $55 and I would buy them all when I was in high school. A few were stolen but I still have all the original Outcesticides. I wish I listened to them more.
This show has been widely available for years but it will be nice to have it mixed in 5.1 and the vinyl will be pretty cool also.
Just looking at the releases in the next month. Foo Fighters- Greatest Hits, Nirvana- Live at Reading, Them Crooked Vultures. Grohl is everywhere this Xmas.

Have not watched it. What is it about this particular concert that makes it so classic? Excuse my lack of historical knowledge on this one.

Picked this up on Friday...what an awesome show. Its funny, you can kind of forget how awesome this band was sometimes. I put the DVD in, turned up the volume and was instantly drawn in. I think this show captures Nirvana at their very best, and its a good documentation of their aggressive loud side as opposed to the unplugged dvd (which is brilliant as well). Glad they are officially releasing some of this stuff.

One of my regrets is that I never got into Nirvana in time to enjoy them live. Will have to pick this one up. Sounds like it's the next best thing.
And the show Sliver refered to is amazing as well. I love when the producer cuts off a track, and all you hear was the baseline, or Kurt's haunted voice, all on it's own. Amazing stuff.

I was probably in Edmonton during the time of the show at the Bronx. Damn it, if I could go back in time...
