Default Going to Cancun

I am flying to Cancun next week and was just wondering if it will be busy and have a good party atmosphere. Also should i take US dollars or Pesos?

I just got back from Playa Del Carmen (1hr south of Cancun) and I would take both USD and Pesos. Bring as many $1 bills as you can find.

I wouldn't bother with too many pesos in Cancun. Only need them for the bus.
I would just bring a bunch of U.S. ones and 5's for tips. Maybe some twentys for purchasing odd things, but you should be able to use your credit cards more often than not for those.

Cancun is always busy. It's basically Mexico's version of Miami.

Personally I prefer the west coast of Mexico like around Huatulco... but I'm past the party stage now.

I found using pesos nets you a better deal if you are shopping at the market place.
at least that was my experience when I went.

When I was in Puerto Morales (close to Cancun), I had one guy at a store who wouldn't even take pesos... he lied, and told me they were counterfeit. I took them to the bank and they assured me that they were fine but that some people want American money because that way they can short change you by not doing the correct conversions as many tourists don't keep close track of it.

There's nothing in Puerto Morales worth buying anyway
