Default Wolfmother split up :(

Best band to come along in a long time imo. I've been looking forward to their next album for the past year, checking on their site every day for updates... and today they announce they have broken up.

Man that is a shame. I love their first album and a follow-up anywhere near as good would've been awesome!

First album was great. Not sure if many people on this site know who they are though...

It's not like they are obscure. They had at least one top 40 hit.

I can't really say I was a fan, and it could possibly be one of the worst names for a band.

On the bright side for the fans, it doesn't sound like the musicians are quitting so you can probably look forward to more music from the same people.

their first album was great indeed. too bad.

the article says their going to find a couple of new guys and release their next album...i'm not really farmiliar with who the creative mind behind wolfmother was...is the guy still in the band or did he quit? Or did they all have input into creating the first album?

Dang, I really liked their first album.
Great driving music.
Hope they can still put out some good tunes with some new guys.

Singer/guitarist Andrew Stockdale now plans to find other musicians over coming months and to then begin making a new Wolfmother album.
I hope Stockdale and the new members of the band can put out a similar sound in the new album. I loved Joker and the thief and Woman. Looking forward to some new awesome songs.

These guys are good, and awesome live apparently. I was supposed to go see them in Toronto but something came up. I'm sure they will sound very similar with new members.

Are you serious? I think you forgot your green font. They had at least two top 40 hits and are on several video game soundtracks.

Honestly, I had to search them up to see what their songs are. Then it was "Oh, they're the Guitar Hero 2 theme song guys".

I guess we were lucky to see them live in Pemberton then. They put on a good show there.

Well this sucks. I've been waiting for an announcement like this for a while, considering there has been virtually zip from the WM camp for a lonnnng time, and the follow-up album kept getting pushed back, and back, and back, and back again.

One of the best live shows I've ever seen was Wolfmother in VanCity at Richards on Richards. Right when they were on the brink of exploding... One of those rare instances in which you know you are watching something special, and are lucky to catch a band on the cusp that is waaaaay bigger than the venue they are in, both in terms of sound and attitude. Similar experience seeing Airbourne here in Calgary at the Warehouse back in April.

Oh well, if Stockdale continues under the WM name I'm sure they'll maintain a lot of their sound, he seemed to be the major creative force.

I now find myself in the same situation as when The Darkness split up (though not nearly as upset).. Back then I said "well, at least there is Wolfmother"... Now I can at least say, "at least there is Airbourne".

No good musician grows on trees. Keyboard players can grow on trees, but good keyboardists don't.

Paul Cashmere of Australia's Undercover News reports that former WOLFMOTHER bass player/keyboard player Chris Ross and drummer/vocalist Myles Heskett are said to be upgrading their side-project DOOM BUGGY into their fully-fledged next band.
