Bruins Set To Rebuild - updated with trades
Well, not to anyone's surprise the Bruins are not a good team this year. So I have decided to rebuild the team and, this time, do it properly. I will be around on MSN more in the next couple days to help facilitate some deal making. I will be looking for some youth and some players with potential but will also have a spot for older players that can perform but may be over paid. Pretty much everyone is available.
So here are some of the highlights of what is up for grabs:
Keith Tkachuk C 37 $7.00 (10%) 3 Year(s) 1W - 68 OV, 79 SC
Dainius Zubrus C 31 $6.00 (10%) 3 Year(s) 1W - 67 OV
Torrey Mitchell LW 24 $0.50 (10%) 1 Year(s) 2W - 61 OV
Marco Sturm LW 30 $5.00 (10%) 1 Year(s) 1W - 68 OV, 80 SC
Cody McLeod LW 24 $0.75 (10%) 1 Year(s) 2W -59 OV
Dan Cleary RW 30 $5.00 (10%) 2 Year(s) 1W - 67 OV, 76 DF
Joe Corvo D 32 $5.00 (10%) 2 Year(s) 1W - 68 OV, 72 SC, 74 DF
Scott Hannan D 30 $7.00 (10%) 2 Year(s) 1W - 65 OV, 74 DF
Chris Mason G 33 $9.50 (20%) 3 Year(s) 1W - 73 OV
Now, I should note, I view cash as a valuable asset and will take it into consideration when deciding on deals. If the player for player value is the same in the deal I'm not just going to throw in 4 mill to balance the salaries. I will need an asset back.
PM on CP is the best way to get a hold of me.

Hey everyone, sorry I haven't got back to you all, I've ended up being pretty busy this weekend. Not sure if I will get any time today to talk trade. Maybe after dinner. But tomorrow I will have time for sure.

Well, in addition to the Tkatchuk trade we made a pair of deals last night/today. First one is with the Bolts. We traded Ruslan Fedotenko to Drew for Justin Abdelkader. Two years ago at the trade deadline I made a brutal trade (and damn well knew it at the time) and added Ken Klee for the playoff run but it cost me Abdelkader. The second I pressed accept I knew I'd made a mistake (though if I had won the Cup that year I probably wouldn't have cared as much). So, getting him back was sort of writing a wrong on my part. Thanks to Drew for the quick and easy trade talks.
The second deal happened today, we have sent Marco Sturm and 2.85 mill to the Thrashers for Paul Gaustad, Robert Nilsson, and a 2nd round pick. I had plenty of offers for Sturm and weighed them all against each other...in the end I decided this deal was fair and I just couldn't justify spending anymore hours trying to move him.
So, there you have it. We have a couple more guys that can be moved, Zubrus, Reasoner and Hannan, maybe Corvo. And I still have a couple offers for other guys to get back to people on.
So far:
OUT
Fedotenko, Ruslan (RW) NHL
Sturm, Marco (LW) NHL
Tkachuk, Keith (C) NHL
Ward, Aaron (D) NHL

IN

2010 2nd Round Draft Choice (que)

Good moves man, you needed to make some changes and you brought some youth in so that will definitely help. I like the Sturm deal, he's an upcoming UFA...although you did get an Oiler back and that's always a minus....

Well, Dr. Hesla wanted in on the fire sale - he just wouldn't leave me alone. So, I made a deal with him.
To Washington:
1. Corvo, Joe (D) NHL
2. Walker, Scott (RW) NHL
3. Cleary, Dan (RW) NHL
4. $8.5 million
To Boston:
1. Hecht, Jochen (LW) NHL
2. Ortmeyer, Jed (RW) NHL
3. Chorney, Taylor (D) AHL
4. Deschamp, Nic (LW) ECHL
5. Blacker, Jesse (D) ECHL
6. 2011 1st Round Draft Choice (was)
7. 2011 2nd Round Draft Choice (was)
8. 2012 1st Round Draft Choice (was)
This was the toughest of my recent deals to make. I'm not big on trading for such long range assets but I thought what the hell. Plus adding Hecht was nice, he's been a favorite of mine for years. Him and Reasoner together will be a good 3rd line pair.

Wow, tons of assets going each way. Corvo is the most important piece going to Washington imo. You get a lot of items coming your way. Makes sense both ways.
