They really need to make a new prison somewhere above the Arctic circle for scum like this. An outdoor one...
I hope they throw the book at him and it smashes him in his face.

And in the end it just makes it harder for people who actually want to coach or get into coaching. You get a lot of flack now being a non parent coach.

This is very true, I've been close to quitting twice because of parents making my life hell, in response I've always told them that they're welcome to stick around and help me out so they can keep an eye on their kids, but apparently their kid's safety isnt worth a couple of hours of a parent's time.

Parents...are the reason I chose to not become a high school music teacher.
Its too easy for kids to twist a situation to their whim.
Not that I am suggesting that is what happened in this case.

This is true. You know, as a soccer coach I've never had a problem with a kid, I've always had a problem with at least one parent. Surprise, surprise, no matter what their issue they wont spend an hour a week as an assistant to help me out.
I remember one season I had a team of 17 kids and not one parent volunteered to be my assistant coach, not one.
"You spend too much unsupervised time alone with the kids."
"Well then F***ing help me then! Why am I running 2 practices and a game all by myself every week? I'd kill to have to some help, and apparently you want someone else here. You do it."
The only reason I'm still doing it is because of overwhelming support from the majority of the parents. Even still though, the hassle from that one guy almost makes it not worth it.
Kids can twist situations to their whim, generally I think that would be a bigger problem for a teacher than a coach as most kids tend to dislike teachers by default.

^ Or in one of my own teacher's case, the female students falling in love with the band teacher and the teacher being a creep to begin with and taking advantage of them. Being 15 years their senior and married with a child. I won't mention names but it was front-page news on the herald.

My wife told me that our daughter's pre-school teacher got an earful from another parent. That parent did not think she was doing a good job teaching her 3 year old son.

Happened in Nanaimo too 19 (?) years ago with a band teacher and in Vancouver with a swim coach. Only both of the "accused" were really awesome people and had their lives pretty much destroyed by some problemed girls that IMO need some hard-core therapy. Sad.

So a teenage girl gets sexually assaulted and we're talking about how kids twist situations and make crap up? Bit off topic, eh, and not in a very good taste kind of way.
First thing I think of is I hope she gets some good therapy, because she'll need it. The worst part is (and it's not that it makes it difficult for other adults) is that this will skew and corrupt her view of future relationships for herself for a long time to come.

I think it's relative to the topic. As is always the case with these kinds of threads, there can only be so many "OMG that's awful, hopefully he rots in hell" posts before the thread will evolve into some kind of discussion.

Yeah, it just seems like a strange that to think of when you first hear of a story like this.

Well, not exactly. If I'm reading the OP right, only charges were laid. There has been no conviction. Seems totally reasonable to me to at least speculate that the story could be fabricated.

The Calgary Police Service has laid charges following a three

against a youth.

Sure, he's not proven guilty yet, but after three-weeks of investigation I would imagine there'd have to be some sort of substance behind it.

Good point. I'm guilty.
I think it's the lack of rambling-ness of the "Random Thoughts" thread. So unfortunately it comes out in serious topic threads.

It is strange, but kids lying about this sort of thing is actually more common than some may think.

I think sexual assault actually happening is more common than a child fabricating the story.
