Default Cost to repair dent + good body shop

I hit a concrete pillar backing my car out of the parkade tonight. My first accident

Can anyone tell me roughly what a shop will charge to repair this?

Does anyone know a good body shop with reasonable rates in Calgary?

The car is an 02 Acura RSX (Silver).

Thanks!

A-1 Autobody. Use it all the time. Ask for Mark for estimate

Haha, I hit a concrete pillar backing out as well 2 years ago. Sucks, but mine was much worse (huge white swirl marks, the entire back corner) and I fixed/painted it myself. Not sure how much it'd cost though.

I'll for sure give them a try. My neighbor has always said A-1 is good.

You could try Hallmark, but it's a pretty small shop.

Stay away from any shop that has a word that starts with "C". That will keep you away from most of the problem shops

A-1 uses Pro-spray paint.. Stay away unless you dont mind poor color match or paint fading away.

Yes.

I bet you are looking at around $800-1000 for the repair if not more.

Really, I heard A1 was suppose to be a good shop. A lot of people are recommending Screamin' Paintworks.

Who do you recommend?

I had a dent just like this, same spot that was almost identical (except my car is an 03 Sentra) and I brought it to Chippy Auto. I took it to the one at 401-38th ave NE.

http://www.chippyauto.com/locations.html

They did an absolutely fantastic job for $400. This is after I got 1 or 2 other estimates for $1000-1200. Both previous estimates said my bumper would have to be replaced blah, blah, blah. Chippy repaired it perfectly and you can't even tell there was ever a problem. They painted it so perfectly no one can tell my bumper has been worked on. Saved me at least $600 over the other places I checked out. I got in really quick too.

You may be a paint expert of some sort. from my family, friends, and own experience they do a superb job of color matching and blending

They used to use dupont paint (The best in my opinion) but to save money they've moved to a cheaper product.

ppg, glasorate (sp?), dupont are used now at A-1 right now. Pro-Spray paint got the boot for the exact reason said by burn_this_city. Just called Mark M. in estimates from A-1 to confirm.

A-1 does nearly all the Acura and Honda work in calgary except for Calgary Honda dealership because they use their own in house facility.

Silver RSXs are one of the most common vehicles that the company works on coincidently.

It looks like I'll check out A1 this week.

This place quoted me a max of $550.
http://www.smartrepair.ca/

A few other smaller private shops also said around $450-500.

Some of the smaller shops scare me, as I'd rather pay more knowing the job is going to be done right.

A-1 never used Dupont paint before they switched to pro-spray they used Sikkens. Dupont paint is just as bad as pro-spray bad color matching and fading.
