Reaching out to the Arabic nations with that speech in Cairo probably did it.

Just so I'm clear, Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize on the same day he bombed the moon completely unprovoked?

Its a joke...the US is still in Iraq + Afghanistan, there military is still spread across the world with bases in Germany, Japan, etc, they are likely still contemplating some action against Iran, etc. etc.
It really baffles me as well. Giving one speech does not win you a Nobel Peace Prize.

Apparently it does...
If President Obama had an ounce of humility, he'd be too embarrassed to accept the award.

Does this officially make the Nobel Peace Prize awards an official joke award now?
Had he done something that would be different. A Speech in one of the most US friendly Arab countries IMHO doesnt cut it - give that Speech in Iran, Afghanistan, Syria, Lebanon, Libya and I will be impressed.

The Nobel Peace Prize has been a joke for a while. This doesn't help one bit, no matter how trendy Obama is.

I wouldn't be surprised if he turns down the award. Then again, what kind of repercussions are there if he does turn it down? I personally don't know.
Regardless, if he was to turn it down, it would just back up the character he has shown right from the beginning. He doesn't take the easy path, he takes the one he thinks is right.

Obama! Obama! Obama! Obama! Obama!
Obama "Yes we can!" (soaks up cheers)
Obama "Change is good"
(soaks up cheers)
Obama "If you can't stand the heat . . . get out of the kitchn"
Obama "I'd like to thank the Nobel Prize committee for this huge honor. Through perserverance, hard work and taking major risks . . ."
"Yo Obama, I'm really happy for you and I'm gonna let you finish but every other Nobel Peace Prize winner is a better nobel peace prize winner then you.
Yes . . Yes . . . I'd like to announce my candadicy for next years Nobel Peace Prize, I plan to erradicate . . . Irradiate . . and Annihilate Isreal thus bringing peace to the region. I mean if a do nothing like the hated imperialistic dog Obama can win it, I am a shoe in.

I think this is yet another case of Premature Evaluation.
Maybe we should actually wait for peace in the Middle East (and perhaps American tropp withdrawels) before proclaiming him Obama, Bringer of Peace.
[Conspiracy Theory]
I wonder if as a consolation prize to not getting the 2016 Olympics, the shadowy world masterminds threw him the Nobel prize bone to keep him happy

I read somewhere that the voting is done in February!!! That is like 2 months into his term. What did he do in those 2 months to deserve to win. What a joke.

Looks like the Prez is going to accept the award.

There hasn't been an award winner this undeserving since Jethro Tull beat out Metallica for the Best Hard Rock/Metal Grammy in 1989.

Personally, as a Russian, I am disgusted that Putin didn't win this for bringing peace to Georgia...
