Default The "I swear this is the last time I go to walmart for mechanic work"

So I to walmart this Wednesday to get my snow tires put on the 1st time ever (just bought this car had it for 3 months). I drive home, and notice as I back up, a slight squeeling. No big deal, new tires right? So it's Friday and every time I've driven in my car since, same thing, a little squeel as I reverse.. and this has NEVER happened before this car ever, it's totally pristine and well maintained. I call 2 diff Mazda dealerships, btoh tell me the same thing, when you get new tires put on, if they're fast/sloppy they can damage the wheel bearings. So I call walmart and ask them what they think, and they say "no we didnt do it". I point out this sound JSUT started as soon as I put the new tires on "well, it could be a coincedence that your bearings just wore out at the same time"

wtf seriously. Why do I keep going back to these idiots?

I thought Wal-mart closed all of their service bays. Or at least the ones I go to.

I used to go there more often when Wal-Mart was newer. At that point the one I went to often had licensed mechanics doing the oil changes. I talked to the one guy- he worked as a Ford mechanic for a dealership. He said making $15/hr doing oil changes was a better 2nd job than a lot of other ones.

I would never even think of taking my brand new car to Wal-Mart. Just pay the money to have someone do it who actually knows your car.

Pretty cheap vehicle if your bearings get wrecked mounting tires. Seriously though, there are hundreds of shops in town and people still go to Wal-Mart for car maintenance. I never understood why that seemed like a good idea.

I wouldn't call an 05 mazda 3 a cheap car. It's not a BWM but yeah.

$13K for a car is pretty cheap but it doesn't mean it deserves to go to Wal-Mart for work. I wouldn't be surprised if the car noticed who was working on it and said F this I'm done, you don't love me, I don't love you.

A girl I know worked at Wal-Mart in the auto department (as a cashier) and told me to never, ever, under any circumstances, take my car there. One guy took his brand new Suburban in for an oil change and the tech drove it through the wall of the service bay.

I thought it was a new car and this seemed very strange. The vintage of your car could have this issue, without the meddling of the Walmart folks. However, there was no issue prior to the Walmart incident, I would be speaking with the service manager, then district service manager...

How do the wheel bearings get damaged when changing a tire? Over-torque the lugs? If this is common, there will be many Mazda 3's needing wheel bearings.

You could probably get a Mazda 3 for $13-16K but whatever.

Also a little bit of both.

Okay so why would you take your $20K car to Wal-Mart?

You come on here, saying you took your car to wal-mart. My first question is a) are you ######ed? and b) did you not expect any criticism.

I have a 2003 Protege 5, so maybe a $8,000 car, and there isnt a chance in hell it would ever be in a Wal-Mart garage while I own it.

Just because someone on the internet disagrees with you, or says you are a moron, doesn't mean they are a ######.
