Flames jersey - I want to buy one but need help
Hi friends. I have never bought a Flames jersey before, all of mine have been bought for me and I never complained about quality/source etc..
However, there comes a time in a mans life where he needs to break out on his own and purchase his own Flames jersey. This way he is assured quality, and a name/number combo he actually wants.
My question for you Flames fans and jersey collectors is this: Where is the best place to buy a jersey in Calgary?
WHICH is the best kind? I want it home, I am leaning between Bouwmeester or Phaneuf. I see there are "authentics" on the website for 300 bucks or a Premier for 140, both with name/number.
What is the big difference between the two? The authentic is what they actually wear on the ice? The Premier is what MOST people have? Is it crappy quality?
If you can answer any of these questions I will be most grateful.
For those of you that have no interest in jersey's but opened this thread anyway thinking I had some weird picks or something along those lines I offer you this:
May you go in peace.

You can get your Jerseys from Jersey City, Fan Attic. I would go with Jersey City.
Quality-wise, don't get a jersey that has the name and number printed...they're crappy. Get it with the logo stitched on!

If you actually want to play on ice with it, get an Authentic, this is the ones they wear on the ice, it doesn't absorb your sweat so it remains light throughout the game.
Get the Premier if you're just gonna wear it as a fan. They are made of different materials, the authentic also has the fight strap. The Premier will have that annoying size tag in the lower front on your left side, if you wait for Christmas season Canadian Tire usually sells them for $100 around that time.
If you can't wait just ask among your friends and see who have season tickets, they can get you 10% off the jersey and numbering at the FanAttic with their Season tix ID card.

Alright good stuff so far. I will elaborate on my situation.
I am coming to Calgary on the 6th for the Rangers game on the 7th. I had planned to buy my jersey then. I was just going to get a pre made jersey with either Bouwmeester or Phaneuf (I figured either would be popular enough to find) But you guys are saying I should buy the jersey first then get the letters/numbers put on after?
I remember reading about people complaining with the quality of pre made jersies.. for the numbers/letters being cheap or peeling off. Is this a major concern when purchasing a pre made jersey?

Get it "pre-made" but look on the inside of the jersey and make sure you can see stitches on the back. If you go to the Dome, buy a jersey, and get them to do the cresting there, it's just glued on, and the name and numbers will surely peel off sooner or later.
Grab one that's been done that's off the rack. Those should be stitched properly.
I'd even keep my eyes on icejerseys.com or those kind of places for deals on cresting between now and then.

The big esthetic difference between the Primier and the Authentic is the flags on the shoulders. The Authentic Flags are more square shapped and are embroidered (the red ends of the Canada flag are truncated and appear to make it look different from the actual flag). The primier features screened flag logo patches which are more rectangular and are then sewn on. If you can live with that and only plan to wear your jersey for fashion then the Primier would be the one for you. I second the Jersey City/Fan Attic Suggestion too because they both use the same place to do customizing and ultimately the jersey you get from either place will be ultimately the same.
Both Jersey City and the Fan Attic should have either Dion or JayBo jerseys done to the right specifications on the shelf.

Mine jersey right now isn't lettered. I will be getting it lettered soon here, but you can buy your jersey already lettered and ready for you to wear. You can do it at Jersey City, or do what Incinerator suggested. I haven't heard of anyone having problems with their prelettered jerseys peeling. There will always be a couple bad ones in a shipment, so it's probably just chance that someone gets a bad one. You should not have any problmens getting a Boumeester or Phaneaf Jersey

Big thanks to everyone, you cleared this up nicely for me.
I will roll into Calgary on the 6th, purchase my prelettered jersey from the FanAttic with my buddies discount card. Then sport said jersey against the Rangers the next night.

Nice to see a good ole jersey thread. I would join the consensus as well and say Jersey City being the best spot to pick up a customized premier (replica) jersey. Authentics are the actual Edge jerseys, I like to collect them so I have several and if you asked me is it worth it I'm going to say yes every time. Now as a family man when you don't have $300 to spend then stick to premier jerseys, they are not worth their money at all but it's the only other option unless you go on ebay and get a real replica from years back. The new Premiers are made of a cheap fabric that pills very easily, the logos and shoulder patches are like a screen print they feel like rubber and are glossy with very little flex. A real authentic has a lot of flex and are stitched on, they are also tackle twill which is like comparing carpet (authentic) to cardboard (premier).
I used to collect maybe 5 Edge jerseys a year but now I get 1 or maybe 2 if I'm lucky because well they are just too damn much and sales are only in the summer. Now since the CHL has released new Edge styling for the junior hockey teams I've taken a lot of interest in getting some of those in the premier style, worth the $100 in my opinion.

I was wondering if anyone knows of a place I can send my womens cut jersey to get lettered. I was considering buying a new one from NHL.com and having them letter it, but they don't have red ones available any longer. Basically, I need a place that does the lettering for kids jerseys. I'd even settle for just a heat press number kit because the guy at Staples Center said he'd do it for me if I got the letter/number kit. Any ideas?
I emailed FanAttic a few weeks ago but they wanted like $140.00 CAD to letter my jersey. That seemed a bit extreme.

Just don't buy the away jersey in the buy/sell forum from that guy who went to the new hockey store and got Regehr to sign it just so he could flip it. For shame...

Whatever you do, don't sleep with your brand new Flames jersey on that night, if you're gonna wear a jersey to sleep in, say past 4:30am, get a Canucks jersey

I missed those- which Fanattic?
And GL, if you are looking for an old school jersey- they still have one 05-06 Pro jersey for $130. It's size 56, so XXL.

I went to the Islander game and grabbed one for each of my three boys to use as practice jerseys. I think the tags said the original price was $140, so it's a pretty stellar deal.

I saw them at the Fanattic near the West entrance on the north side of the foyer.
