Default Welcome to Macintosh

Any of you guys see it yet? What little I've read about it so far, it seems like it's considered the best Apple documentary yet.

I'm hoping it's not just another fluff-piece. Supposedly, it isn't...

(I'm sure there's a Microsoft documentary out there too, somewhere, in case someone wants to rag about another Apple thread.)

Those first to comments sound like it will be a big fluff piece ... the others do not. Watching people claim that everything apple does is completely unique or that they don't compare themselves to anybody else makes me want to back out of the thread slowly before it starts hitting the fan.

I really wouldn't say that the majority of things they do are overly unique. They seem to take such time and precaution when releasing a product that they are often beaten to the punch, but the fact they took the time ensures the product works very well. In some cases (like the tablet), they work on these things for so long that consumers get overly worked up about it. Sure it isn't a novel idea, but i have no doubt that when it comes out it will function beautifully (now whether or not it's actually useful remains to be seen).

Looks like a pretty good documentary ... it seems like it focuses on the Mac culture which has always interested me.

Macheads was an interesting documentary because it starts to delve into the chasm that is forming between the corporation and the community. It also looks at the ways the community is falling apart due to increased popularity, and the internet as a medium.

Fairly bleak, actually! (but it manages to hit its computer freak quota fairly early in)

I just finished watching this. It was actually pretty good! It wasn't quite as "hard-hitting" as I was hoping, but then again... it's not like there's a lot of things in Apple's history to be "hard-hitting" about.

Now, Steve Jobs' history is probably a different story... but this was about Apple and (specifically) the Macintosh itself.

Was worth the 100 minutes.

Edit: Thanks, I'll check out Macheads too.

Here's a cool outtake that was cut from the final production... (btw, this guy was the best part of the whole documentary, by far)

Yeah, he's pretty cool... whoever he is. I like his bit about engineers and how he's an "engineer in recovery" haha. Pure gold.
