Default Should we not have a "No Thanks (thumbs down)" button?

I never liked the old blue and red squares that rated a poster. I'm glad they're gone.

I do like the current "Thanks" button but wouldn't it be logical to have a "No Thanks" button also, that you can press if you disagree with or don't like a thread?

It might also save a lot of back and forth arguing and it also would allow someone to express their opinion without having to actually get into the whole post a response thing.

It would also give the poster some what of an idea where his opinion/post stands in the general CP community, particularly if he/she receives a lot of "No Thanks".

I know a lot of time I read something that I disagree with but I just don't have the time to say so in a post, or I just don't want to get into an argument with the poster... A "No Thanks" button would be perfect just for that type of situation.

What do you think?

How many "No Thanks" will I get?

No.

Simply because it will result in petty 'wars' between groups that are created out of someone getting too many 'no thanks.'

People will organize themselves and pretty soon you'll have people giving out 'no thanks' to posters they just don't like.

The thanks button makes sense because we pretty much use it as an "I agree" button more than a thanks button in practice. I actually get annoyed when I read a thread and 20 people all say one thing.

It's way more interesting when you disagree with somebody to have to explain why you disagree than to just dismiss them with a "no thanks."
