Thumbs up We Need Another B**ch In Calgary!

Beach! Not the other word most of you thought. But I needed to grab your attention to bring your attention to something that affects us all.

Even though Sikome Lake was overrun by floatin' turds awhile back, it's nice to have a beach where people can congregate in the summer and where girls are hot wearin' less than bikinis.

Why aren't there more beaches like this in Calgary? We need one in the north end of the city.

How does the city decide what parts of the city get a beach?

This might be a good idea for Ald. Druh Farrah to get behind. I'd much rather have a new beach than the Bow River Flow.

In the winter, it can serve as a winter wonderland/skating rink and tourist attraction. Think of how nice it would look during the holiday season all decked out with tons of Dutch, Irish, Swiss, Scotch, Chinese and Japanese tourists skating around saying look at these Christmas trees.

I'm off to Mexico for a wedding for a few days, and thought about how nice it would be if Calgary also had beaches.

Who else would like to see a nice man-made beach in the north side of town?

They need all the land for outskirt communites with cookie cutter houses.

Little boxes on the hillside,
Little boxes made of ticky tacky,1
Little boxes on the hillside,
Little boxes all the same.
There's a green one and a pink one
And a blue one and a yellow one,
And they're all made out of ticky tacky
And they all look just the same.

If Dubai can have a year-round indoor ski hill in the desert, why can't we can have a year-round indoor beach? You figure we could build that for $25m?

and if you thought people moan and whine about a bridge, wait until you spend taxpayers money on an indoor beach.

I hear there are these places slightly south of us that sit in the middle of a big body of water and have year round outdoor beaches!

Haha. Why would Druh give a hooping funt about the North side of the city? Her ward borders the Bow. Me and my friends and the hotties that wear less than bikinis (no word on rockman lovers driving lamborghinis) float our way through her ward with our lifejackets handy to flash for the cops that hang out on the banks (scoping the less than bikini clad girls). (I don't actually have less than bikini clad girls in my group) (it sucks)

Knowing our City, we could and it would be built one year late and come to a total of $50 mil.

Not before conservatives tear this plan a new @$$hole. Rick McIver's head would explode.

Calgary.

Middle of the bloody prairie.

And you ask why we don't have more beaches?

Just realize what every Calgarian eventually comes to terms with - our city sucks for leisure. This is why most of us have plans to move to Vancouver

Nothing says fun like a beach thread when Summer is over...

Want a beach? Go to the Caribbean.

Lets flood Edmonton. There should be enough sand from all their industrial parks to have 80miles of sandy beach front.

It would be an awesome 3 weeks per year!

Hmmm i guess it's not feasible. The smell would take decades to go away.

Let's close Memorial Drive and turn it into a beach party with beach things like beach balls and people meandering on the street because they can. Maybe some sand. We could throw fistfuls of it at those heartless motorists!

Another Pleasant Valley Sunday
Charcoal burnin' everywhere
Rows of houses that are all the same
And no one seems to care.

I live sooooooo close to the beach and if I go once a year it's a big deal. But I do like to ride by to make sure it's still there, or hang out at the various inlets. I can see why you guys would want/ appreciate one .

Meh. Beaches are fun and all, but I'd still rather live closer to this:
