Default Heat Open Practices

http://www.abbotsfordheat.com/News/H...icesopenpublic

I gather the Abbotsford Heat will be having regular open practices, and one is happening tomorrow from 10:30am to 11:15am. I will probably be attending that, and for sure will be attending ones in the future before class (UFV is right beside the arena).

Practice Notes:
  • The passes were crisp and very accurate from the whole team.
  • Playfair would quite often slap his stick against the ice to get the tempo of the practice up (some players got a talking to because of their lack of speed).
  • John Negrin was very fast and played well positionally
  • Brad Cole was off positionally and made a few bad passes, but he got schooled by Playfair after making those mistakes.
  • Backlund seemed sluggish compared to the others, but he did very well shooting and passing.
  • Aulie had to be told to move over into the center of the ice when the puck was in the right corner and move up against the boards more when the puck was in the left corner. After being told once he learned it seemed.
  • Irving made great saves considering they did drills where no defense was in front of the net. Basically, all three forwards on the goalie.
  • Keetley did not do as well as Irving and let in several easy rebounds. Nonetheless, he will be an excellent backup to Irving.

Overall, the practice was offensively focused.

It was also nice to see other Flames fans in the stands who were watching.

The arena looks great (it smells new in there too). The scoreclock is massive and also looks good.

Hope the Heat kick the sh*t out of the Moose tonight
