The Stampeders have called a 3pm media scrum to announce a free agent signing. The Fan960 reports it is Anthony Malbrough (sp?) A good pickup on the defensive side. They are also reporting the team is close to signing Jermaine Copeland and are continuing to negotiate with Henry Burris.

I think these 3 signings will bring the Stamps to a level of respectability. They still need some Canadian talent at inside receiver and O-line. Maybe Ed Hervey or Chris Brazzell will complete the nice offseason!

Fan reported this morning that they have perhaps already signed a Canadian o-lineman. Can't recall the name though. Hopefully its part of the Press conference.

in the paper today they said that yes they have signed Marborlough along with a back up O-Lineman. Also that they were very close to getting Copeland.

Ed Hervey signed with the Renegades yesterday and McGarity with the blue bombers.

The Stamps signed Anthony Malbrough a former Stamps and former 2002 1st round pick overall O-Line from Ottawa Renegades Alexander Gauthier. I am still waiting for them to sign Smilin' Hank and Jeremaine Copeland. I'll say chances of signing Smilin' Hank is probably good but I am not sure of Copeland. He might ask more than the Stamps is offering but we will see.

Marty York says Copeland has signed. We all know York's track record, but just a little food for thought.

Regardless of if we sign Burris or not we have a playoff caliber team if the Copeland thing is true. The signing of Malbrough really shores up our secondary, adding to one of the best top 7's in the league. With Copeland, we have two very good recievers (Lewis and Copeland), a capable running back, and a QB that can actually get the ball to the recievers. Our O-Line still needs work, but it's only the second day of free agency.

If we do sign Burris, the Jones trade is really going to be a kick in the pants. With Lysack on safety our defense would be incredible. Fleming was gone either way.

The whole Burris/Jones thing doesn't even come down to money. We're going to be paying a QB $350 000 - $375 000 this year so the amount Burris signs for is almost irrelevant. It just ends up being a case of who we want - Burris or Jones? I'd have to go with Burris.

That's the interesting thing about the QB situation in Calgary. I'm a die hard Rider fan and would hate to lose Burris however, if I was paying that kind of dough for a QB regardless, I'd rather have Burris too (I think). They're both going to be overpaid!!!

If this occurs, wouldn't be surprised to see Jones cut by Calgary (after refusing to restructure his contract) and him ending up in Saskatchewan...funny (in a non-haha way to this Rider fan)...
