Palmaero (sp?) has already released a statement denying the accusations made in the book.

It will be interesting to see what "Big Mac" says about all this. Frankly I've always found it odd that Mac is beloved so much while Bonds is villified.

I think its the fact that Bonds can be such a jerk to the media.

I remember him once talking to reporters saying something like "next question...because the last one was stupid," and he made some mean face while doing it.

McGwire has denied taking steroids. He did, however, take Androstendione during his record breaking homer campaign. At the time, it wasn't on the banned list. It is now...

I didn't mind Canesco as a player, or even after.

Sure, he's a bit of a nut, a jerk, and I am sure he has financial and ego reasons for wanting to get the spotlight now.

But I also don't think he's telling flat out lies either.

Of course people are going to dismiss the allegations, certainly against themselves, especially if they're still playing, and have reasonable grounds because its Canseco.

But, pretty sure he's put the cat among the pigeons actually having the guts/gall to name names...and that's not always a bad thing when it comes to performance enhancing drugs.

The adult acne and the onset of "wrestler muscles" lead me to believe he's done a little more than some andro.

Yeah, I don't believe him either, but that's his story for now..... not much you can do when the guy's been retired for a number of years. Its not like he'd test postivie now. Let's just hope that Selig's new drug policy isn't the pathetic joke the old one was.

I sure hope Jose makes a lot of coin off of this book, because he's gonna need a lot of protection.

Supposedly, according to Canseco's new book, the whole Andro thing was just to cover up the 'roids that Macguire was taking.

Jose said he even injected into Mark's butt for him

Well in McGwire's defense he was huge but unlike guys like Bonds and Giambi he did not explode seemingly overnight. He has been huge since he was a kid and always had a ton of bulk. He also didn't have a period when he "exploded" and then began hitting way more home runs then normal.

Now that does not mean he didn't use roids but it makes it less obvious as when Bonds and others had similar things happen to them.

Boy one day I gotta figure out how to post images.

Anyhow...

Rookie

Musclehead

No zits!

He went from being a big guy at 20 to a musclebound, pockmarked monster at 35. Unless he radically changed his diet to A) Give muscles and B ) cause acne, then I think something was up.

Yes he did put on a lot of mass but he was only 18 when a rookie.

The difference that I was pointing out was unlike Bonds, Sosa and Giambi it did not occur over one offseason. McGwire gradually got bigger. He could have used steroids to do so but it isn't as fishy if it takes him 3-5 years to get that big rather than 3-5 months as the case was with the others.

Fair enough all of that. I don't really follow baseball so I'm basing my opinion on not a hell of a lot but baseball highlights and his physical appearance when he hit 70 home runs. It's just is kind of mind boggling that he was a good player for his long career and then when he was 35 he positively shattered a 40 year old record that many people thought might never be broken, then he retired a few seasons later.

It's like Brendan Shanahan scoring 95 goals next season. Okay okay not a perfect comparison, but you get the point.

He was a great player before that season and had (still does) the best HR per At Bat ratio ever in the league. There were many factors that went into his and Sammys year that year. He may have taken steroids but it isn't as cut and dry a case as I think it is for Giambi, Bonds and Sosa

He writes that McGuire took steroids... Here are some other revelations from his book from an insider:

Jose reveals that the sky is blue.

He confirms the fact that water is wet.

Canseco starts a controversy by suggesting that the moon is not made of cheese!!

How insane?
