Faerie ring

I need to remove some faerie rings from my yard. My bro has a bobcat and can dig them out for me.

How far down do you have to go to get it all out? Do you have to go out a certain distance from the ring that shows to get it all?

My brother doesn't want to contaminate his equipment and is wondering if digging a ring out will contaminate his bucket so that if he does other landscaping work it will spread the ring. Could this happen? Is there some sterilant you can wash the bucket with to kill any spores or whatever?

I'm sure you could mix up some soil sterilant and wash the bucket out with that...only thing is that if there's any residue left on the bucket and it gets into some other soil, that stuff will be outta commission for at least a year (if the concentration is high enough of course).

isnt fairy ring a fungus that spreads by way of spores? and thus bleach is not effective? I once heard products like Dr. Scholl's foot powder were effective, but like how much would you need?
