Default Vancouver Giants name Lance Bouma captain

Quote:
The Western Hockey League’s Vancouver Giants have named 19-year-old centre Lance Bouma as their new captain.

The Provost, Alta., native has played 173 games with the Giants in his career, scoring 25 goals and 47 assists for 72 points.

He replaces defenceman Jonathan Blum, who is turning professional in the Nashville Predators organization.

Bouma played his first game with the Giants during the 2005-06 season and was a member of the Memorial Cup championship team in 2007.
Its funny how the Vancouver newspaper fails to mention that Bouma is a Flames draft pick.

When I hear reports of Bouma's play it sounds like he plays a Milan Lucic style of game; a punishing physical player with some hands and offensive potential. I'm not trying to say Bouma has the same upside as Lucic but the Giants could be looking for same dynamic as when Lucic was captain and lead them to a Memorial Cup.

I just received one of his game used sticks from his playoff run last season. Good to hear about this maybe I can snag more equipment

IMO, Bouma is going to be a key cog for the Flames once he arrives.

Good choice, I'm quite fond of Bouma. Guy plays with unmatched intensity and tons of grit.

Bouma and Craig Cunningham (the other player rumoured to have been in the running for the C) are two of the guys I enjoy watching most.

I'll be watching him lots between now and Christmas, since the Giants only have a handful of real home games in 2010.
