The Flames have sent veteran winger Saku Koivu, a 2nd round pick and a small amount of cash to the Pens for Alex Tanguay, and a 3rd round pick. Both players have the same ratings, we get just a tad younger in the deal. Thanks to the Pens for the offer.

I will be out of town from after work today until Monday afternoon. I might have crackberry access while camping but probably won't check in everyday.

This doesn't make any sense... Saku doesn't play for Montreal anymore...

This was a deal we made out of roster needs. This team needed a better 3rd line center as Backes has a 40 FO rating and belongs as a top 6 winger. That left us with an abundance of wingers and a weakness down the middle. Koivu brings veteran presence and could easily fill in the top 6 as an injury replacement if needed.
