yup thats correct. I already had one person from here contact me. He also advised that there are a few for sale on kijiji and ebay

Some of the older 80 GB ones had the software compatibilty as well. Just have to look for the ones with the 5? USB ports and card reader.

(In fact the 80gb MGS4 bundle that was sold until end of August 2008, was one of the last ones to offer BC, and for the most part, run PS2 games with rare visual glitches)

A while back I was also looking for one of these, but then I decided to pick up a used PS2 cheap since then I could be sure it would be 100% backwards compatible.

Not 100% though. I had audio problems with some games on that version.

I searched for a 60 gig for 3 months before finding one. If you can find one for under $400 grab it.
