I just finished DL'ng and installing the new system update. it look pretty in HD. However, anyone having troubles connecting to the PSN?

This is the much anticipated firmware 3.0 update, are they still working on the servers?

the initial login to psn after the update took a bit, but it's up and working great.

just watched the preview video and didn't look like much exciting in the update. its installing now though. maybe i will be surprised

Apperantly they hyped this release and there's a lot of people commenting on how unexciting it really is.

Still trying to find a detailed list of changes from the horses mouth.

Yeh, initially it looks cool but that wears off right away. The install also fubard my connection settings so i had to go re-adjust everything... then it took for ever to sign..

The friends list looks stupid now... anyway to switch it back so peoples names arent set in that big grey back ground?

It doesn't look like a whole lot to me. I was kinda excited for a moment there; they had an opportunity to really do something new and fresh.

I don't know why they keep pushing that XMB thing. It's got to be one of the clunkiest UIs I've ever seen. It's a full 1080P HD system for crying out loud. The best they can keep coming up with is just a bunch of text written across the screen? (Oh, and sparkles...)

My first two thoughts when I got the update were "why are the XMB images so big" and "my god is this friends list ugly". I hope they give the option to customize this stuff or revert back to the old style XMB.

I don't have it yet and I'm not sure I even want it. This update sounds like it makes things ugly with very little pay off in the end. I really like the playstation 3, but it really feels like Sony just doesn't get it.
