Default NHL 10 DEMO Out Now on Xbox Live

Impressions:

Loved:

- First person fighting (has fight night style controls - loads of silly fun)

- Board Play -finally, feels great very realistic.

- Scrums after the whistle, starting fights after the whistle..!

- All the great stuff from 09 is still great: they didn't break anything (harder than you might think when making a sequel...)

- All the nice new little touches... you'll see what I mean.

Liked:

- Top prospects game - nice touch, but ... Do I really have to begin my career with the Islanders? ugh... My dream is to be on the Flames... Maybe they'll have a way to influence where you go ala Lindros.

Verdict?
Well, here's a funny story... I work for EA and can get anything they do for free. Last year my order (free game) was due to arrive 2 weeks after the game hit store shelves... I couldn't wait, and ended it buying it 1 day after it hit store shelves instead.

This year I doubt things will turn out any different...!

Pinning against the boards is going to ruin the game unless they up the interference penalties. I mean, you can just pin guys to the boards on a rush and take them completely out of the play for 3 - 6 seconds.

I'm cautiously optimistic about the game but like the above, there are a few things that worry me for final product.

Actually... stuff does usually come out later down under. (for instance NHL is out 3 days later here than in NA)

But then again it's +25 for 9 months of the year.

So you sir can kiss my hairy ballbag

I don't think it works that way. I think you have to be right up on the boards to pin anybody there, otherwise you just slash them.

You could pin a couple years ago, 07 or 08 I think, and it wasn't a huge problem. I miss that feature. Glad it's back.
