Car died on me, need suggestions.
Last weekend my car broke down on me, the repairs are worth more than the car itself so I'm looking to get rid of it but I would like to get as much value for it as possible. I've never done this before as this was my first car so I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to where I could take it or sell it to.
FYI its a 1995 Honda Accord.
Thanks in advance.

If it is to far gone you can look at retireyourride.ca, if it is 1995 or older you are entitled to some form of compensation and money towards a newer car I believe. I don't know how much but I am sure they have a number you can reach them at.

Donate it to the kidney foundation and they'll give you a charitable donations receipt.

Yes, but only for the amount that a wrecker would give you. So instead of selling it to the wrecker for $150, you get a receipt for $150 that will be worth around $50 off your taxes.
It is the easy way, and it does support a good cause, but I think the OP was looking for more by the way he said "I would like to get as much value for it as possible."

I dont usually see Kidney Foundation receipts in excess of $50, so it would actually be less than you're thinking.

1) Report it stolen. 2) Torch it. 3) Sit back and wait for the insurance cheque.

If these are the kinds of repairs that a backyard mechanic can do (or thinks that they can do) you can sell it on kijiji for sure. Just put a fair price and what the work is that needs doing and you'll get someone to pay you for it.

I value my neck for more than $3K chief. I'll find him for $3K, but I'll catch him, and kill him, for $10K.
