Did anybody see that ad for "American Dad" made by the people from the Family Guy, the only problem is, is it is the family guy change a few faces and give them new voices take away the dog and give a fish and Allakazam you have American Dad! Why at Superbowl time do they always put out the crappy shows that get cancelled like a month (sometimes not even) later.

It seems to me that this was probably the successor to the Family Guy... and then the Family Guy got un-cancelled.

I think there's a 7 minute trailer somewhere on the web. Its basically the same thing as FG, like you were saying, change the faces and names.

It also doesn't look very well produced... the animation looked worse than FG to me.

If it's half as good as family guy, I'll still watch it.

I don't know, wait for the whole episode before you pass judgement.

A show just like Family Guy? Can't complain

WTF man? I saw the first "teaser" and didn't think it looked great. I'm waiting for the whole episode before I write off the series.

Strange, no?

When I frst saw the "teaser" for the simpsons way back when it first came out, I first though "What a stupid show, no one is going to watch that".

Don't discount something before you try it.

I thought Family Guy was a lame Simpsons rip off when I saw it after the Super Bowl many years ago as well.

Hee hee, I like it alot so far. You can totally tell it's a rip-off of Family Guy, but who cares...

So far it's exactly as I thought, STUPID. I jus tcan't get over the fact that it's a rip off (I know that's what it's meant to be) i'll give it one thing though the whole dog part was funny.

This show is a brutal rip-off. MIGHT have been funny if Family guy hadn't done the exact same humor before... and better too.

A few moments, but really nothing special. Better than some stuff on TV but when Family Guy comes back I really think both shows are going to go downhill just due to lack of material..... ok the cia is nervous about terrorism moving on... what same joke again..... yeah......

It had like 2 funny parts. The dog was good.

Overall thumbs down.

I'll wait a few more episodes before I really judge it.

I'm thinking the same thing as you. It had it's funny moments (the purse stealing scene in the mall, I laughed, and that fish is kinda funny), but it is basically a rip-off of Family Guy.
The main guy was too annoying I thought, I think his voice has to be toned down a little.
I think you're right that both shows will go downhill once Family Guy is back. So, despite SOME potential in the show....here's hoping it gets pulled before FG comes back.

PS - When is FG returning?

FG and American Dad, it appears, both go into full swing May 1st.

I agree, the show had its moments, but it's also the pilot. I'm betting it gets a bit better, but will always be overshadowed by Family Guy. Kinda like Futurama and the Simpsons.
