I've got a great full green lawn, but it's LUMPY! They had dogs here before we moved in and I think it's from all the dead patches. The grass is really very thick and green, so there's no issue there. In fact, it's so thick, that it's grown around some of those small patches and that's where the lumps are.
Is there any sort of a fix for this? I don't want to add anything to the whole lawn because it's doing so well. But maybe I have to? I don't want to spend a lot and don't have a lot of man power, but lots of effort! Just wondering what the cp brain trust has in their noggins for something like this.
I heard a woman complaining about dew worms on a show the other day. The host suggested sprinkling about an inch of Nutriloam (compost+mulch soil) over the lawn to even it out. Bonus: it's a natural fertilizer.
It would take a couple of weeks to a month to 'settle' in, I'd think

How big are the lumps? You could always just get an 8x8 or 10x10 tamper and tamp away.
Or, you could wet the entire lawn down to soften the dirt up and roll it out. However, I've only done that pre-sod, and not sure how well this method would work.
Hmm, that first metal thing could do the trick, but would it kill the grass? It's weird, it's not specific lumps, per say, but when you walk through the grass, every step is lumpy. Does that make any sense? It's almost like they didn't flatten it out right to begin with.
Had the same problem before. Ended up soaking the lawn until the damn thing was swimming in it, then rented one of those heavy rollers, filled it with water, then rolled all the bumps flat.
