It was finally confirmed Crosby has been dealt..
Here is the deal.
Going to Anaheim is Sidney Crosby and Slava Kozlov and more than enough cash. Coming to San Jose is Jonathan Toews, Rene Bourque and Kyle Okposo.
We decided to move Sidney and were offered two very good offers and a lot of not so great offers. We decided to make the deal with the Ducks simply because it involved Jonathan Toews and his wicked contract. The Sharks are setting up our team to compete for many years to come.
We didn't stop at Sidney, once he was dealt Scott Niedermayer demanded a trade and we obliged. Scott will most likely retire after this season so we decided to make a trade for more youth. So going to the Capitals are Scott Niedermayer and Ales Kotalik, and almost enough cash to even up the cap. Coming to the Sharks are Ron Hainsey, Wojtek Wolski and prospect Matt Halischuk.
Again we are setting up out team to compete for many years. Niedermayer might retire next season so we figured we would get two very good players for him while we could. Ales was our throw in and really didn't mesh with the team. Hainsey is 7 years younger then Nieds and Wolski is also 7 years younger then Kotalik, again the Sharks dump the old for the young.
Finally the Sharks made another trade, going to the Avalanche are Blake Wheeler, and Niclas Havelid, a little cash this season and a couple million to help buy out Havelid next season. Coming to the Sharks is Kristian Huselius and a 4th round pick in 2011.
This deal was simple we wanted to get rid of Havelid's horrible contract and Wheeler was the player that had to be packaged with him to get it done.
