Manitoba Maples are native to Alberta but they are hateful trees with their spitting and billions of seeds that grow everywhere.

I had a couple of Manitoba Maples growing on my lot. Beautiful trees, but I had a terrible aphid infestation on one of the trees and basically left the tree barren.

A block down from my place in Mount Pleasant, there is a gorgeous street, lined with Manitoba Maples...

I had a little tree fort in a maple tree at my parents place in Edmonton. I called it the Maple Dome because the inside was completely empty except for branches while there was a dome-like canopy of leave above and to the sides.

I have no idea if it was a proper syrup producing maple tree. I know it had maple leaves (not leafs) on it and I liked to sit up there.

Which is all fine until you want to have a garden or eavestroughs. You literally end up with thousands of baby trees every year growing everywhere there is at least a teaspoon of dirt.

I guess they're better than the poplars I live with now though. First they spit, then the sticky leaf pods fall, then they fluff, then the seed combs fall, then they spit, then the branches fall, then the suckers come up through the lawn/driveway/whatever, then the millions of baby trees grow, then the leaves fall.

"Maple tree's" growing? Does the tree possess the ability to grow?

What "posses"?

Do you mean to imply that there are multiple groups of trees summoned by some sheriff somewhere to aid in law enforcement? Are there lawbreaking trees out there that create a need for such tree posses? Should I lock my children away to keep them safe from this leafy menace?

Here's a website about a Nova Maple tree that seemed to do quite well in Calgary... until the elderly female owner (she was 80) cut it down because there were too many leaves to rake in the fall..
It used to be on Center Street.

One area where you can see an abundance of maple trees is on Canadian Forces Bases (or former Bases). In Edmonton specifically, the Griesbach area (which use to be CFB Griesbach) is lined with a ton of maple trees.
