Nightmares...
I have them almost everynight, and have been experiencing them on and off for the past 2-3 years. They are all extremely vivid, and usually involve demons, corpses etc. Does anyone know what causes them and how to get rid of them?
People keep telling me Im stressed- but really, Im pretty happy. So I don't think thats the answer.

Can't help. I don't dream. Are you on any pharms etc? That may be it. You either probably drink too much or not enough.

I drink once every few months, and usually only wine and am not on any meds.

I'm the exact opposite, for my entire life I haven't been able to remember any of my dreams. There have been nights I've woken up in total relief that it was all just a dream but I can't remember why. Someone once told me that most serial killers are the same way.

Have you been eating or drinking the same things the last few nights?

It might not be stress, but you could be worried about something in the back of your mind. I tend to get nightmares when I'm anxious.

I'm a candidate for waking up driving in my car driving down the Deerfoot. If anyone knows how to stop sleep walking / sleep shouting, I'm in for some Interwebz help too!

Do you watch TV or play video games right before bed?

I read that adults, on average, only get about one nightmare a year, so that's odd. I do have one relative though, and if she eats anything after 9 PM, that night she's almost guaranteed to get a really scary nightmare, I don't know why, but it could be something similar, who knows.

Could you have possibly been eating or drinking that stuff during those times as well?
I have read dreams have a lot to do with the way you sleep and dreams form. It could all be a load but I know when I eat spicy food as my last meal I wake up frightened from the dreams.

Dreams are a funny thing, there is such a separation between the unconscious mind and the conscious mind. The past few months, I've been having some really weird dreams myself.
The weirdest one had to be one involving an ex-gf I dated for about 2 years in high school and hadn't even thought about for years, except in my dream, she was just some girl that was acting really b**chy to me and I couldn't figure out for the life of me why. Now of coarse, consciously I know who she is since we were so close for so long, but in my dream I couldn't figure out who she was. But my unconscious (or is it subconscious?) mind, I knew that she knew me, that there was some reason she resented me (I sort of dumped her) and in my dream, it had every personality trait and common sayings she used - all of which my unconscious was able to pinpoint, but I didn't know who she was.
Also random other dreams lately of old elementary school friends, junior high firends, high schools friends that I haven't thought about in years, but ended up in my dream in some sort of weird scenario. I've also had weird nightmares too, but I guess unlike you, I find them intriguing and don't want to get rid of them until I figure it out.
The mind is a fascinating thing

Actually I've heard something simmilar and since 75% of dreams are (in theory) negative ones. That could explain your nightmares.
