Default No Gas?

I went to a couple of gas stations in the NW and they all say 'No Gas'.

Anyone know what's up with this?

Were they Esso stations? If so, I've seen some doing upgrades to their pumps in the past week...

maybe, there was a power failure a week ago that knocked out 2 of the largest three refineries in alberta, I think they were down for 3-6 days. Many outlets are on a rationed, or apportioned schedule of delivery.

Reminds me of 2 times I went to Subway and they said they don't have any bread for the day(I went at like noon).

Well then why the eff are you even open for 9 more hours? Soup/cookies/pop?

How do you know the gas stations were open? Most of the time they shut them down to save the cost of paying for people. The only exceptions I've seen (although I'm sure there are others) is when the site has a healthy car wash business and it's a high car wash demand day.

don't know if the stories above mentioned the petro canada refinery that got damaged in that storm that hit edmonton last week. Apparantly a specialty piece of equipment got destroyed.

I drove past the Southport Road Superstore and saw a "sorry, closed. NO GAS" sign taped to the window. This was around 5:00PM Saturday July 25/09.

So from the article Flames in 07 posted it said
'Petro-Canada has been forced to temporarily ration fuel supplies to its retail and wholesale outlets and its associates, he said.'

Perhaps Superstore gets its gas from the Petro refinery also. It's crazy how fast our gas runs out when a refinery is damaged

Don't know, but they probably will, Ab is a near impossible market to import crude products into. There have been some large production 'bumps' on synthetic grades which is a large part of the feedstock for Ab refineries, that will get priced in eventually.

Yesterday afternoon, the Esso at 17th Ave/ 37th St SW was out of regular gas, so they offered the premium for the price of regular. Not a bad trade-off.

Yep how ridiculous can it get? Well you could have gone into KFC as I did with my family and they had no chicken. Huh? Ahhh you aren't a grocery store with one missing item on the shelf --you sell chicken and you are out?

I once went to Tim Hortons and they were out of coffee. (I was told it'd take 20 minutes to brew a new pot). You're Tim Hortons, in a mall location, always have it on! I was livid.

I said to my friends Tim Horton's running out of coffee is like Tip Top running out of suits, Radio Shack running out of batteries, or the Dollar Store running out of crap!

I went to a Taco Time once and order a Taco. They said they were out of meat, and asked if I wanted a bean borretio. Ah, no thanks.

I can understand a gas station running out of gas if the refinery had problems. But places like Subway, Tim's, Taco Time running out of their main product is just poor managment.

Did you mean to say bean Burrito?? or is Borretio something that you guys eat up there? I am not bashing ya i was just curious if was something different than a burrito ? or is if its just a weird spelling that you guys do up north like centre ( should be center) or Colour ( should be color) ? or did you just have a spelling mistake haha

Back in the day the 7-11 I worked at ran out of slurpee cups. I damn near got fired for making fun of the managers for not having cases and cases in the back for when, you know, it got hot during the summer.
