Default Console Game Review Sites?

Which one do you guys trust? I keep using GameSpot, but I honestly have no clue why... I always get the feeling their reviews are either bought or just completely trivial.

I'm probably more interested in 360 games atm.

I really haven't found one I like. Either it's painfully obvious they are a fanboy or paid to give positive reviews or they don't know what they are talking about. I'm interested to see if someone has found a good site. I'm in need of one.

i generally use ign.com for news and than use metacritic to double check all the reviews. I am sure you know about metacritic but just in case they average all the reviews together.

i too use the 360 and i use metacritic online and official xbox magazine offline.

metacritic as Sowa notes aggregates the reviews...so if there is one particularly good or bad review that you want to see...you can click through to it. i find that it removes some of the fanboy stuff...but not all of it. it also has reviews from around the planet...so you aren't stuck reading reviews from people with just one perspective.

I personally like the gametrailers.com video reviews. They're pretty enjoyable and seem pretty fair.

Agreed.

I generally agree with IGN reviews / scores for the games I get (except for them giving GTA a 10).

I read IGN. I love their podcasts.

I'll check out Metacritic/GameRankings as well to compare, but I find IGN gives the best reviews.

I also agree with GTA IV being a 10, but don't think Halo 3 should have been anywhere near a 9.5.

It's hard to trust reviews from sites these days. I used to look at IGN and GameSpot but reviews, at times, seem to be poorly written and within the body of the review they would rave about the game only to give it a 7 or 8 out of 10. I think the best way to review a game is to just visit forums and see what people are saying about it. I visit http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/forumdisplay.php?f=94 just because it's more of an adult place than GameFaqs.

Nice, I just bookmarked that. Thanks!

I like Gamefaqs for their... game faqs... but they're a Gamespot sub-site now, so I don't read their reviews either.

I use ign.com for news and reviews. Then I check metacritic for the overall score it got, to see if IGN's is a fluke or not.

I still hate how GTA IV is one of the highest rated games of all time. It soils Zelda: Ocarina of Time's good name. Zelda has 99, and GTA IV is at 98 I believe. No game deserves to be even near Zelda.

http://www.gamerankings.com/

like metacritic, but dedicated solely to games and they gather from more game review sites

Because Gamefaqs = Gamespot.

Edit: Never mind, so is Game Rankings.

I use gamefaqs faithfully, get an idea of what everyone thinks for themselves rarely with any bias. Lots of people get the games these days before release.
