Fairly certian this is one of the original remote control robots that the Calgary Police used and could diffuse/dispose of bombs, or go into buildings deemed unsafe for humans.

I can see some small area police force such as Port Moody in/around vancouver purchase something like this. Not a huge expense but at the same time it could come in usefull.

Yes it is a bomb disposal robot... new ones go for around 78,000 I do believe.
