Obamacare for old folks: Just 'cut your life short'
The version of President Obama's universal health care plan pending in the U.S. House would require "end-of-life" counseling for senior citizens, and the former lieutenant governor for the state of New York is warning people to "protect their parents" from the measure.

Wouldn't it be easier to just vaccinate them all?

I used to love Obama but now i see him for what he really is.
The biggest fraud in the history of presidents. He promises a healthcare system when everyone knew America was trillions in debt i really cant see a universal healthcare system that could be financially supported by the American government.

Oh no, telling old people that palliative care is available! THE MONSTERS!
To take the quotes ripped out of any context and try to construe them as advising old people to end their lives is pathetic.
I know a far more reliable source of information:

Ya, what a jerk for trying to force affordable healthcare on Americans. The USA is turning into the USSA.

I know it's useless to argue with Tower, but if anyone reading this thread actually cares to find out what the bill is about, please read this response to these outlandish distortions from my representative and co-author.

This bill has bipartisan support (the main cosponsor is a Republican doctor) as well as support from a diverse coalition like AARP, the American College of Physicians, and Catholic health systems. It is an area where -- no matter from a red or blue state -- many have been able to bridge the divide. The bottom line: this is a smart and just thing to do for families going through a tough time.
|
Seems pretty straight forward to me. This probably stems from the fact that republicans are doing whatever it takes to stall and break down the health care bill. If it passes, and Obama gets credit, the republicans are toast... and they know it.

Thats why the tax on the highest bracket was increased 3%. IIRC they are trying to pass a surtax on couples earning over 350K, and that is supposedly going to cover about 1/3 of the cost in itself.

With a population of 300 million+ i find it hard to believe that a 3 percent increase in that bracket would even cover 1/100th of the cost.

Well I have not been paying close attention, but I remember them saying that it will cost 1.5T over 10 years, and over 500B of the cost would come from that extra tax on the rich. I could be wrong though.

I'm curious as to why you think it's feasible in Canada and not in the US. The population difference works on both sides of the equation, it may cost more but there are more incomes from which to collect. It's not easy to increase taxation in the US, but I don't see how you've decided it's not feasible.

Probably because of how much the US spends on its military for one thing. But hey, with the de-militarization of Europe over the last 50 years, who is going to police the world? Russia? China?

* Canada has 10 percent of the population.
* America debt is 57 trillion dollars or 186,000 per man woman or child. http://mwhodges.home.att.net/nat-debt/debt-nat.htm
* America has millions of illegals which will be hard to keep out of Public health care.
* huge recession in America alot worse than Canada.
*Canadas income per person is higher than Americans
You can buy a house in Detroit for about $15,000. Do you really think that someone who can barely afford to pay their mortgage or even put food on their plate will be able to afford the premium?
I know healthcare is important and it really is a terrible cycle to be in and i wish they eventually do get the universal health care system they need but realistically i dont see it happening for atleast 20 years.

lol.
good luck with that.
The US is going bankrupt and badly needs its rich people to use their money to jumpstart the economy, and instead they'll have to give their money to the government so they can force everyone into a government mandated health care program that will be shtshow from the beginning.
