TITLE SHOULD READ RFA'S
The Pens made a big step in locking up a total of 13 rfa's for the 2010 season. Listed below is a detailed report on our top 5 signings as well as a list of all the other RFA's retained.
Mike Richards -3 year deal @ 7mill/season
We feel Mike is on the verge of becoming a huge star that will eclipse his current rating in a big way after this season. Already known as a tenacious defender Mike has had back to back NHL seasons of 75 and 80 points respectably. We are very happy to get Mike locked up.
Alex Ovechkin - 1 year deal @8million
There is not much we can say about Ovechkin that isin't known. The kid was born to score and we are just happy to have one of the best scorers in NHL history onboard for next season.
Bobby Ryan 3 years 2.5mill/season
We are ecstatic to lock up Bobby for 3 years. We feel this kid is a 40 goal scorer in the very near future. Ryan showed the world a glimpse of his potential netting 31 goals in just 64 games as a rookie.
Mike Komisarek - 1 year @4.5mill
Mike is one of the hardest hitters in the game and will play the role of stay at home defenseman for us. He can deliver the big hit that can change a game. He is 27 so he was given a 1 year deal so he can be locked up for 3 more on his last rfa contract next year.
Andrei Kostitsyn - 3 years @ 3.25/season.
We see Andrei as having the potential to be a perenial 30 goal guy for us. Andrei is very young and has a lot of upside so we decided to focus on a longterm deal.
The Pens have also locked up the following players to contracts:
Antoine Vermette 2 years X 3.5mill
Chris Higgins 2 years X 3.5mill
Christian Erhoff 2 years X 3.5mill

Julien Sprunger 1 year X .55mill
