Globefish, just down the hill on 14th Street, is excellent.

Globefish, IMO, has the best sushi in town, but you pay a price premium for it (worth every penny, though).

Sushi BBQ Inn, on the other hand, has the opposite problem. You can get a lot of sushi for fairly cheap since it's an all-you-can-eat place, but the quality isn't nearly as good as Globefish. I was also annoyed that they limit the quantity of sashimi you can order; they obviously want you to fill up on rice rather than fish.

Sushi Club on Kensington Road is really good -- if Globefish didn't exist (or if you're on a budget), this would be my recommendation.

There are also two sushi places on 10th St., but I haven't tried either.

Please, don't go to Sushi BBQ Inn.

Go down the hill to Globefish.

Sounds yummy .

In all seriousness, though, how does a place like that still get to stay open then if it has all those violations?

I agree with GlobeFish. Absolutely the best Sushi I have had in Alberta. Kinjo is 2nd, but too far away. Sushi Boat in the NW (Crowfoot) is 3rd.

Plus Globefish has rolls named after Iglina! and has the Flames Roll! How can you go wrong.

I'm going to get Sushi for lunch now, thanks alot you guys!

^ Yikes. I haven't ate there in years but enjoyed it when I was there. Decent sushi at a good price. Good thing I haven't been in a while reading all the charges.

On another train of thought, could this mean that they have now cleaned up their act? The fine or shutdown of the restaurant for repeating again must be huge. You think if anything they'd be back to standard or even above in fear of further negative action.

Hard to say, those inspectors have a lot of restaurants to monitor. If you go to the website you can see that some haven't even been inspected since before Jan 2008.

please, please, please avoid Sushi BBQ Inn. Not only is their food GARBAGE, they are also a bunch of jerks that think nothing of their customers. I wish that place would go out of business already. I can't think of a business that treats it's customers as badly as they do. There's a video on our facebook group "I hate Sushi BBQ Inn" where the owner spat at a customer and chased them out of the restaurant because they didn't eat all their rice. You have to see it to believe.

I doubt they have cleaned up their act. They just don't give a crap. They want to make a quick buck. The sooner people stop going there, the better for the general public.

Oh yeah and when you don't tip because their service sucks, they will confront you and ask for a tip.

I give 5 stars to Globefish! Amazing sushi and great service!

cKy - check out El's Japanese fusion in Marda Loop, and Misato by sunterra on 17th and sarcee SW. They're both delicious, and on the same level with Globefish IMO.
