Edson Kinsmen Slo-Pitch Tournament
The Kinsmen are putting on their annual Tournament here in Edson.
It is billed as the largest tournament in Canada with an expected 270 teams playing over the August long weekend.
It made Maxim magazines top five places to get ---- in Canada. not that the town is proud of that accomplishment . town population doubles for the four days.
anybody coming up for the tourney?

My advice is to drive 50 in the 50 zones in Axel's goofy town.....Thos $140 photo radar tickets suck. I hate speed zones that are 50 but should be 60.....Arghhhhh

Will be up there come Friday. We've played in it for 5-6 years. They don't give us the Friday games, being that we are driving from Calgary, but they really stick it to you on Saturday. I thought 0800 was bad. No, we got 0645 game start Saturday.
We are camping at Willmore recreation 6 km south. We like it rustic.
Great tournament 256 teams in the open portion, no idea how many are in the Masters.
We won money twice, but we are mostly there for a relaxing camping weekend; with 4-6 games of ball.

Don't miss the home run derby/streaking fest on Saturday. Awesome show from the beer garden. A few years ago a guy combined HR derby and streaking. He took a feeble swing, dropped his clothes and ran around the bases naked. He then slid...head first...into third. It hurts just to remember. He gets up and slides into home also.
A. No it wasn't me
A. Yes, I prefer the ladies stripping down

Are you a pitcher rubecube? We are going without one. Something tells me that may be our downfall.

Can't say as I am. Mostly a 2B/3B player and I can hold my own at OF.

We are going to go with a bare minimum team almost. It is 5 and 5 on the field, and we are bringing 6 guys 6 girls. If we get injuries we'll be in trouble. We like only having one extra of each sex so there's not much sitting out. If you were a pitcher though...AND, if you were afemale pitcher, well i'd cook for you all weekend!!

As a postscript, has anyone heard of the band playing Edson Saturday night. They are called Living Illusion? Friday and Saturday they have country singers Brad Johner ( I think), and Amy Haydey ( again I think).
I will go to the beer gardens Saturday, just wondering what to expect with this band. More info at edsonkinsmen.ca.

Can't one of you pitch? It's not like pitching in slo-pitch is particularily complicated. You just underhand and flip your wrist a bit so that there's some backspin on the ball.

not sure of what bands are playing besides Johner.
as a local, its time to get out of Dodge!!
Have a great time, you'll love it.
P.S. watch the drinking and driving, folks. Local RCMP will be setting up check stops right at the entrance. so be forewarned!!!

Not complicated no, but there is a big difference between a good slo pitch pitcher and a bad one. I imagine I will likely pitch, there's one lady on the team that might step up. When i said not bringing a pitcher, I only meant a regular consistent person.

Yeah, that's kind of what I thought. But yeah, there definitely is a noticeable difference between good and bad.

Sample00, Why must it rain every long weekend in August in Edson? We had a teaser of sun on Sunday, but by the time our team got into the river, it started thunder and lightning...back under the tarps. Monday was nice though.
Heavy RCMP coverage of the highway and checkstops (sort of) at the diamonds going in and out.
Had a great time though, won some money. A little drier would have been perfect.
