Camping around Okotoks?
My ball team is playing in the CSSC tournament in Okotoks this weekend, I believe one of the CP teams has played in something similar in the past so I thought I'd ask for some suggestions...
Can anyone recommend a site that is A) relatively close (15 minutes-ish away) and B) drinking friendly. The last thing I want is to show up with our tents and beer diet for the weekend and get stuck beside a family. It's going to get pretty loud Friday night I would imagine.
There's the usual google suspects but I thought maybe someone knows of something I won't find online.
*Note: After looking into it, it does appear that the games are at the "On Deck" fields.
Thanks!

^^^^^ Neither one of those places will allow all night drinking and partying. They are both family type campgrounds.
Sounds like you might have to travel further afield to someplace like McLean Creek if late night partying is important to you.

^^^ As co-captain of the CPSW I can tell you we camp at riverbend and we drink a lot and all night, just let them know you are a ball team. Just like anywhere though when you take it too far you will get booted.
And trust me we drink a lot, best part is it is just down the hill from the diamonds so you dont have to drive when you have too much. On deck has camping as well right on site, not sure of the prices. (edit: damn madman already stated this)
Also be prepared to pay $2.00/day/person to enter on deck (if thats where you are playing) for a park improvement fee.

Thanks alot guys, I'll give Riverbend a call. We're not particularly rowdy drinkers, it's more the noise I was concerned about. I don't want to risk getting the boot at 3am with no one in any condition to drive somewhere else.
Thanks again.

Tell them you're a ball team and they'll stick you in the corner with the other ball teams. It's kind of at the end of the campground, so I think we get away with a bit more down there.
If the old guy comes and asks you to chill out on the giant fire, do the guy whose credit card is on the line a favour and chill out with the fire.

^^^^ Yep... quiet time starts at 11:00 pm. That doesn't mean you have to stop drinking go to bed at that time but it does mean that you have to keep the noise level down (talking is ok but shouting and loud music isn't). This campground does have a lot of families there and if you do get the boot they will use your visa card to call taxis for everybody and give you the boot.
I still say, if you want to party hardy, McLean Creek is your best bet.

So that they can drive almost an hour each way to their games? Then they wont be able to drink at all.

McLean kind of misses on the "be close" criteria.
FYI - McLean Creek is full of families as well on the non-ATV side...it's not a giant drunk fest.

We stopped camping at Riverbend about 4 or 5 years ago when they seemed to have issues with baseball teams. Charging surcharges for baesball teams, adding "fines" to your credit card for no reason.
Besides that we loved camping there, might have to give it another try. FYI the diamonds have their own campsite if this is on deck we are talking about(big empty field) and they seem to have no problems with rowdys.

Oh I was definitely thinking of th ATV side.... or even the random camping area.
Those sides are generally pretty rowdy.
... and you are right... they aren't close but they do fall in the "drinking friendly" category.

Yeah... I agree... it is about a 70km drive from Okotoks to McLean Creek.
Designated driver?

FYI - McLean Creek is full of families as well on the OHV side and its not a giant drunk fest for most. Its a giant drunk fest for the people who have no reason to be camping in the OHV side either.

If that's the case, why not just camp out in their backyards?

Very helpful comment towards the OP's question.
Don't you have anything better to do?
