WTB: PS3 or XBOX (360)?

Hey all,

I am looking to get either a ps3 or an xbox to bring out to school with me when I go back to victoria in september, for the sole purpose of playing NHL 09 and now 10 I guess.

Know of any good deals that are outside of Best Buy or is that the only way to go?

I don't know anything about deals but I'd get a PS3. Free online play, which is key for NHL 09/10. You can watch things that you either download or stream off the internet on your TV with a PS3. Doesn't break like xBox 360s at least used to do.

They are clearing stock of ps3 for a newer slim model expected to be announced in August. Should be easy finding a good deal if you don't want a newer model, I think walmart has a decent bundle going on right now.

From what I've seen the red ring is slowly disappearing. A new model of xbox is rumored to launch next fall with that Natal camera tech.

On the ps3 side we have a pretty strong club that still plays regularly(although in august I think we're going to start trading in nhl09 and get ready for 10)if you're interested. I'm not sure what happened to the 360 team.

Also another plus for the ps3 and the reason I buy all my sports games on it is that it supports 7 controllers. You can have your friends over and fill out a whole team(I usually don't have the goalie position filled though, we end up just taking turns between periods if there's more than 5). That'd be a blast for college or whatever. On the xbox side there maybe a system link thing like halo does so that could be an option too, not 100% sure though.

some games only come for xbox and some only come for ps3, so it depends on which games you'd like
I'd just get whatever your friends play, since I usually play with my actual friends over e-friends

I have an xbox and it's broken once in two years, got it fixed and it came back in two weeks, and it's not bad taking a break from video games every once in a while, so a RROD isn't all that bad.

If you're going to get a system to play NHL games on, get a PS3. NHL 09 and 10 have problems playing on some XBOX 360s (game freezing, DIRTY DISC ERROR), not to mention their failure rate.

If you want to buy a system, pick up a PS3 so you won`t have to deal with warrenty issues.
