Default Hot tub questions

On the weekend we purchased a hot tub that we are going to install in our back yard. The hot tub is 7 feet by 7 feet and we were told that we need to install a level gravel pad 8 feet by 8 feet. So now I have a few questions that I am hoping to get some answers.

1. How deep do I need to dig? Down to the Clay? I need a gravel base of 3 inches. Do I have to compact the gravel? Do I need a sand base and then gravel on top of that?
2. What is the best way to frame the base? 2 x 4's 4 x 4's?
3. Do I need a permit?
4. I have an electrician lined up (who will get a permit) but I am not sure what he will all do. I want to have some idea so I know what he is charging me for. Does the GFCI go outside or is it in panel? Do they have to bury the cables or can he run them along my deck?
5. Where is the best (cheapest) place to purchase the gravel? I will need it delivered too. How long can it stay on my driveway before the bylaw police ticket me?

Not sure what I got myself into but the wife and kids really wanted a tub and it now appears I will be spending the next few weekend working in my back yard. At least in 4 – 7 weeks I will be able to soak the pain away.

Thanks

Someone told me about a decent reference site for hot tub stuff by a lady. Can't remember her name. If you google "tub girl" you should be able to find it.

Good luck!

Well played......

You wouldn't happen to know any websites about goats in the Christmas Islands, would you?

I was fairly certain it was not a hot tub site and I was going to google at home just in case.

The website was such a great reference for hot tubs that it became the background on many computers in the office. My fellow coworkers were always inquiring on chemicals and when to test for acid.
