Default Need Feedback for my brothers new song!

Hey CP'ers, My brother is released his new song and I'd like to get some feedback from you. The song is POP/R&B/Rap, so If you like that kinda music it would be even better to get your opinions. Check it out and tell me what you think and be honest. Its just a shortened clip from a couple nights ago when it was released on z99 in Regina.

I'm not a fan of Hip-Hop so my opinion will be a bit limited, however there are some really good aspects to the song based on what exposure I get from main stream hip-hop/Pop music.

The hook is strong, easy enough for the masses to memorize and sing along with.

The beat is solid, pretty similar to most main stream Hip-Hop but it's what people like.

I'm not a fan of when the guy actually comes out and raps, it doesn't flow well with the rest of the song and doesn't follow the beat. He seems kind of out of breath the whole time and a bit incongruent, like he's trying to impersonate similar rapers. I'd suggest to mellow out the tempo of his voice a bit.

But as far as popular music goes, it's pretty good.

Not a fan of that type of music at all!

...But,

I do know that it sounds fairly well produced and that it sounds exactly like the stuff they play on that Zed..what ever it is, station here in Calgary. Does not sound out of place at all.

Tell him to crouch down, get really close to the camera, cross his hands with "peace" signs and snarl (exposing silver & gold "grill") when he makes the video....

Seriously, Good luck to your brother, I'll bet there is pretty serious competion in that genre.

I am a fan of hip hop, and I can say that definitely sounds professionally produced. I despise the vocoder with every ounce of my soul (regarding the R&B chick), but hey, pop hip hop is what it is. His vocals could stand to be a bit higher, they were slightly muffled behind the beat. It definitely sounded like something you'd hear at the club. Good for what it is, just clean the vocals up a bit and I wouldn't be surprised to hear it on the radio here.

Hey!

All rappers gotta be bad right?

Get him to drive around Calgary whilst flicking cigarette butts out the window, or waving a Flames flag, or honking his horn!

Then tell him to take the jail time instead of the fine.

Vocals kinda get lost in the track. Not a bad song, but it almost has a house feel to it.

I quite like it but I agree with the above, he needs to clean up the vocals, the backbeat is too heavy and I can't make out what he's saying.

The song itself I really like, and the kids will like it too, reminds me of the Kid Cudi v. Crookers remix song, a house type beat with hip pop lyrics.

Not really my style, but I agree with other that the vocals need to be more clear. Also, the sound of him taking in a breath before singing each line is very distracting.

I want the instrumental! That is a sick beat...is it his own?

My honest opinion is that it sounds like he is trying to be a "down south" rapper but doing so over a dance beat to it. I would be curious what he would sound like over more of rap beat.

There is also parts where your brothers voice kinda disappears behind the beat of the song. The girl singing fits the beat however your brother does not, but that is a very easy fix IMO.

Any where that we can download an MP3 of the whole song? It is a very short clip of what your brother actually sings in.

P.S. Is Shannon hot?
