It actually happens quite often. Tornado's in southern ontario are common. Just getting late in the year for them now though. Also a bit weird that the storms weren't really that severe and don't usually spawn tornado's. Odd day for weather.

Funny, I lived there for 4 1/2 years and never even seen one on the news, I remember one up around Barrie thats it, but a system of Tornado's from Owen Sound all the way to Metro Toronto can't happen very often. If ever before.

Ya, the storms that went through there usually aren't the type to spawn any, so that in itself is odd. EF0's and 1's are pretty common though, just don't make the news.

That's a hell of a shelf cloud rolling in. Almost as freaky as this:

Those sirens give me the chills still.

In Montreal right now waiting on my flight to Toronto, been delayed 3 hours so far. Heard it was weather related but had no idea it was this bad.

My parents live in Vaughan and are okay (thank God) but they told me there was power out and debris everywhere.

My dad was at his golf course and they were all outside the clubhouse watching the funnel cloud approach when some guy came out and said, "Hey you idiots, the moment that thing comes close, glass will be flying everywhere, get inside!" A couple of cars were damaged by flying debris.

I live near Bowmanville (about an hour east of Toronto), and was actually sleeping while this was going on. Our power was out, but my dad was listening to the local FM radio station when they stopped playing to music for a few minutes to tell people about the funnel clouds that were spotted and the tornado warning in effect. My dad woke me up and told me that the radio station was telling people to take shelter in the basement. I can't really remember any time that an FM radio station (especially this one) has abruptly stopped its program temporarily to tell people to take shelter.

I was in a bit of a panic at first, but we turned out to be EXTREMELY lucky. We just had a ton of rain, lightning, thunder and our power was out for a few hours. My wishes are with those who lost their friend and family member, as well as those who lost their homes in the tornadoes. I can't comprehend what they are going through.

Texted my cousin in Mississauga. Guess they saw a bit but nothing serious. Like I told him, tornados only destroy trailers, he should be ok.

Well, technically, Toronto is the safest place on Earth when there's a tornado... so they should be fine.

Growing up in SW Ont I can recall a number of tornadoes rolling through the area. London and area was hit by smaller ones a few times that I can recall.

The night the F4 rolled through Woodstock I was in my backyard and don't recall much other than it was a warm, humid night (nothing unusual about that), then hearing the next day about the tornado which was about 35km from my home.

I was told that it was Punjabi (which I assume Pagal, you would understand). all I know from what someone told me was that it was go to the basement or something to that effect.

If you could PM (or post here) what they actually said, I wouldn't mind, that's of course, if you don't mind.

In that case, my thoughts go out to all Oiler fans living in the area.
