Why can Edmonton get this and we don't? Is Calgary not interested in hosting something like this?

I would love to see something like this in Calgary.

It was going to be in Calgary at one point, but they switched to Edmonton last minute as I recall before the race was going to be first run. I can't recall the specifics. If it were in Calgary, i'd go. Even thought of driving up to Edmonton a couple times to go.

I have been tempted to go to Edmonton for this. I'm a huge racing fan, and even this won't encourage me to go to Edmonton.

Part of the problem is location.
Where would you have the race in Calgary?
You could do a Street Course, but where would you put it without disrupting traffic in a big way.
The big advanage for Edmonton is that they have a horribly under utilized airport in the middle of the city that is really well suited for setting up a race course without causing any major transportion problems.

I agree that I'd love to have a race in Calgary, but if it's a choice between Calgary and Edmonton, Indy is going to choose Edmonton every time. Too bad for us.

Any racing fan should definitely go up for the weekend. Ewwww, I can't beleive I just suggested going to Edmonton.

Aww, too bad they don't call it the "West Edmonton Mall Grand Prix of Edmonton" anymore. That name was really catchy, and it was also catchy.

It is a solid event for the racing. I've gone the last 5 years (since they started) and its always been a good time. The CASCAR race is usually just awesome as well. Every year but the first the weather has been pretty good. Gets nice and hot up in the bleachers. We cant make this year because of our wedding.

I've got 2 - 3 day Gold passes for sale for anyone interested in going!! Includes 4 CapEx tickets as well. Just PM me, looking to cover our costs at best, but will take any reasonable offer.
